Blurred Lines

New York awoke to the sounds of Robin Thicke, who took over Rockefeller Plaza as part of the “Today” show’s Summer Concert Series. The R&B crooner, who still has the No. 1 single in the country, celebrated the release of his sixth album Blurred Lines by performing two songs. With a gold mic in hand and shades covering his eyes, he delivered his record-breaking hit with his sexy backup dancers as the crowd sang along. He also addressed the controversy surrounding the lyrics.

Take It Easy On Me

“When we made the song we had nothing but the most respect for women,” he told Matt Lauer. “Sometimes the lyrics can get misconstrued when you’re just trying to put people on the dance floor and have a good time. But we had no idea it would stir this much controversy…. We only had the best intentions.” He kept it going with Timbaland-produced “Take It Easy On Me,” which he dedicated to his critics.
