Not even ‘Roar‘ can budge his ‘Blurred Lines‘ smash hit off the top spot. Can anyone knock Robin Thicke off his Billboard Hot 100 perch? The singer’s summer smash ‘Blurred Lines‘ has managed to claim its 12th week at number one again denying Katy Perry’s ‘Roar‘ the top spot. ‘Blurred Lines‘ has been a big summer hit this year and although it has showed signs of declining but with its raunchy topless girls video, there’s no surprise that it has managed to sit at the top of the American chart for 12 whole weeks.
The song also claims a 12th week at number one on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and a 15th week atop R&B Songs, while becoming just the 14th title to top the Hot 100 for at least 12 weeks. Robin performed at Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards, duetting with good girl gone bad Miley Cyrus. The ‘We Can’t Stop‘ singer who sits at number one in the charts, was seen gyrating Thicke in barely any clothes at the awards ceremony in Brooklyn, but thanks to that saucy performance both stars could see sales spike next week, meaning Thicke could remain number one for a 13th week.
Other stars that could get a welcome boost from their VMA performances are Lady Gaga and event closer, Katy Perry. Gaga rose from number six to four, while Imagine Dragons were celebrating a year in the top 100 chart with their catchy hit ‘Radioactive‘, which in its 52nd week dipped from four to five.
