Shay Haley reckons that his bandmates Chad Hugo and Pharrell Williams could come up with something interesting with psychedelic rockers Ben Goldwasser and Andrew VanWyngarden. “A collaboration with N*E*R*D and MGMT would be pretty sick,” Shay said. N*E*R*D – who are playing an exclusive show at London’s Troxy on November 27 for the Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project - are working on a track with Damon Albarn, after supporting Gorillaz on tour. “We’re working on a song with him. He is a genius, a cool guy,” Pharrell admitted. But he declined to reveal any further details, saying:
“I can’t do that. He’s like us – we like to keep everything veiled until it’s time.” N*E*R*D, who are celebrating 10 years of music-making with the release of their greatest hits compilation The Best Of N*E*R*D on January 10, promise more “incredible music” for the next decade. “Music is changing and it’s becoming even more exciting. The invigorating, ground-breaking stuff is on its way back, and I think rock ‘n’ roll is going to come back in a huge way,” said Pharrell. “Kanye’s [West] new album is dope, we’re happy that Lil’ Wayne is home. We’re excited to see what Chris Martin does next, the joint Jay-Z and Kanye record should be interesting, and Nicki Minaj is arriving.”
Here is the second neptunes track off T. I.’s seventh studio album No Mercy which is due December 7th, the tune sounds something The Neptunes would do for Fam-Lay or this coudla be a Juvenile/Gucci Mane leftover from their Mixtape studio sessions, pretty dope beat, check it out.
When multi-platinum artist and producer Pharrell Williams is so anxious to get in touch with someone that he contacts their high school to try and track them down, you know that there is something special happening. Which is exactly what happened to singer-songwriter and YouTube sensation Alyssa Bernal. TeenSpot recently had the opportunity to chat with Alyssa about the Smoke & Mirrors tour as well as the only thing that really sucks about life on the road. Find out what she had to say in part one of our interview…
TeenSpot: You’ve been traveling with Lifehouse and Kris Allen on the “Smoke and Mirrors” tour. What has that experience been like?
Alyssa: I love the tour. Yeah, I didn’t think I would be having as much fun as I am. I’m having a blast (chuckles). I thought I would be deathly tired by now but I’m not at all. We actually get plenty of sleep on tour.
TS: So during the day, while you’re traveling, you have plenty of time to catch up on your rest and whatever else you need to do?

Hard Knock TV’s Nick Huff Barili caught up with N*E*R*D to explain the latest with the Star Trak movement. Pharrell talks about Alyssa Bernal, Chester French, Robin Thicke (calling him our R&B Sinatra), Kenna with his new style and Christian Rich. Pharrell said that if there was a fourth member of N*E*R*D it would be Lupe Fiasco and that people should not be surprised if they do an album together but it wouldn’t be on the next album because N*E*R*D has already started working on album and its going to be Nature based.

Hard Knock Tv’s Nick Huff Barili caught up with N*E*R*D to talk about their new album “Nothing“. Pharrell says that he is most proud of the fact that Neil Young, Quentin Tarantino and RZA would all appreciate this album. Shay says that its a blend of a lot of things that he thinks this generation will appreciate. Chad, well Chad didn’t say much during the whole interview but he did get in a couple classic lines if you listen closely…specially the one about knee pads at the end. In this segment of the interview, the band share their favorite songs on the album, Pharrell: Inside Of Clouds, Shay: Victory and Perfect Defect, Chad: Perfect Defect and Party People. Shay states that what keeps it fresh after all this time is that they are forever pushing the envelope and that they have creative battles which keeps it healthy. This segment ends with a couple crazy stories of being on the road including getting into a brawl.

Tammy Lucas has been Interviewed back in 2008 where she talks about her relationship with The Neptunes and their early days. She also sounds bitter in some parts about her business dealings with Teddy Riley and Pharrell, but in the end she mentions that Pharrell contacted her said that he would produce half of her album when she got a record deal. The Harlem girl moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia where the hit maker Teddy Riley set up shop when Future Records was born.
Soon they discovered The Neptunes at a talent show Teddy Riley gave at Chad & Pharrell’s high school. TL: “I was a judge on the panel, I voted for them & I knew they would win because they were so original; Pharrell’s energy was dynamic back then & when I heard Chad’s chords it was Love at first sound.
I told Ted I wanted them to write with me on my album & a new music family bond was created. ‘BLACKstreet – Tonight’s The Night‘ was the first song we all wrote together”. Teddy Riley continued to be in such high demand that Tammy became a mentor/big sister to the new comers. TL: “In fact the entire 5+ years I lived in V.A. both of my apartments were T.Lucas Music/Neptune headquarters. The Neptunes were straight out of high school when they started coming by almost everyday to write music, listen to & talk about music (eat my food & use my phone lol) but I really didn’t mind. They were loaded with raw talent & I was happy to oblige” (quoted from her facebook page).
Tammy and The Neptunes recorded a “Truly Soulful” compilation album for EMI Records in 1997, but the company folded before the album could be released. She also claims that her and The Neptunes have over 35 unreleased songs, that Pharrell plans to release in the future!!! Pharrell left Future Records after a dispute with Teddy over credit for Rumpshaker (which leads me to believe Pharrell did more than just write Teddy’s verse). Chad and Tammy left shortly thereafter, and the 3 of them started working together, big thanks to darrenlaking.
Alyssa Bernal & Co. had a Jam Session after the Temecula Show.

After the overwhelming support Kanye West has received after ex-President George W. Bush cited him for creating one of the lowest points in his career, SOHH hit up G.O.O.D. Music’s Pusha T. for his opinion of the situation.
While voicing support for his boss, Pusha said Bush should have pondered why so many Americans concurred with West’s 2005 Hurricane Katrina remarks. “Me, I’m Pusha, I don’t give a f*ck about what George W. Bush’s lowest point was, ever. I don’t care what he thinks,” Pusha told SOHH.
“And if Ye was his lowest point, then that says a lot about him. The president of the United States of America, I don’t care how he feels emotionally. Listen man, people be getting it f*cked up, man, a lot of what’s said comes from a very honest place and at the end of the day, if anything Ye said made Bush feel some type of way, then you sort of have to look at stuff in its whole perspective. You have to look in the mirror and say, ‘What the f*ck was I doing wrong to make this guy say this and so many people agree with it?'”
Hollyscoop.com caught up with Robin Thicke who gave Hollyscoop the scoop on his collaboration with Quincy Jones & T-Pain on Michael Jackson’s ‘P.Y.T.’ (Pretty Young Thing), as well as his upcoming album, Holiday plans and more.
That’s good news right there, according to Speakerboxxx.com, The Neptunes gave Jared Evan two N*E*R*D Instant Gratification tracks for Jared’s debut album which is due 2011. The tracks are called ‘Show Me Some Love’ and ‘Black Clouds’, yes that ‘Show Me Some Love’ tune we already know (watch below N*E*R*D performing Show Me Some Love) and haven’t we heard Black Clouds before. That is actually a Chad Hugo production that was meant for Alesha Dixon second studio album The Alesha Show but then a Keri Hilson Version of Black Cloud leaked this May on the net, so after all we finally get to hear the final result of Black Clouds and a CDQ of Show Me Some Love next year on Jared Evan’s debut album, we’ll see, check out the N*E*R*D x Speakerboxxx.com Interview below.
N*E*R*D – Show Me Some Love (Live)
After producing countless hits for a who’s who of hip-hop and pop artists, as well as scoring a few films, Pharrell Williams took a break from the boards to focus on N*E*R*D, his group with longtime friends Chad Hugo and Shay Haley. The trio recently released their third album, Nothing, which actually covers a lot of wide-ranging topics and genre-bending backdrops. XXLMag.com recently caught up with the Star Trak captain to pick his brain on the art of hip-hop, Hollywood and getting back on his camouflage hood shit.
XXLMag.com: First and foremost, why did you guys decide to call this latest N*E*R*D album Nothing?
Pharrell: Well, we were working on a big body of music. We had amassed like 26 records, and to be honest, it just felt like it was good music—it was dope—but it just didn’t feel like I was pushing the envelope enough and I really wanted to go and just make something like next level. Not artsy-fartsy, but just something next level that was kind of like pushing the envelope. I was like I wanted to take another approach and make something that like when you hear it you’re like, “What is that?”
