Pharrell Williams has found a new outlet for his artistry by serving as guest creative director for a luxury lifestyle magazine. The Neptunes superproducer/rapper joined the team at Plum Miami Magazine to oversee its May/June (11) issue and came up with the cupcake-style concept for the cover shoot with model/actress Rachel Roberts.
But Williams declined to step behind the camera himself to take charge of the photoshoot. He says, “I thought, you know what? Why not make an edible cover? Art direction? That’s me. I know what I’m doing. Cameras? I don’t even know where to buy disposable ones.” Williams is keeping himself busy away from the music studio – he was recently named creative director for new cable network Karmaloop TV, which launches later this year (11).
