Wepa, the new single by singer Gloria Estefan, is available now on iTunes. The song is available both in English and Spanish, as well as in four different remixes, and will be a first taste of her 11th studio album and the first in English since 2004’s “Unwrapped.” Make sure to cop it on iTunes.
In recent interview by mirror.co.uk, Gloria Estefan talked about how is it working with Pharrell Williams. She’s managed, at the grand age of 53, to produce a single and album that sounds as if it’s by a 23-year-old pop superstar. How’d she do it? With help from Pharrell Williams, that’s how. Gloria has produced a stonker of a record with P.Willy after the pair were introduced through mutual friends. “Right from the get go Pharrell was so easy to work with. It started as a more retrospective piece, working with my old records. Within days we were recording new material. It’s full of dance and typical of me but very modern.”
Even Gloria’s 16-year-old daughter, Emily, gets a look in on the album, producing an incredible remix of Wepa. The Keisha Mai Ash Remix is party central and Gloria tells me the lass came up with it herself. “It was amazing,” she said. “She said she’d been playing around with the single and come up with something. It blew me away. Music is in her blood and she’s so incredibly talented.”
