Multitalented artist Pharrell Williams has turned his eye away from fashion and music for a second to focus on something a bit more serious, by adding environmental activist to his ever expanding portfolio. The producer, rapper, and fashion designer recently put his popularity to good use by teaming up with Bionic Yarns. The up and coming company is committed to ending the consumption of plastics by turning single-use plastics into high quality yarns and fabrics that can be used in everything from footwear to furniture.

Williams and Bionic Yarns founder, Tyson Toussant, recently sat down with Bettery Magazine during the “Parley–For The Oceans” conference to discuss the basic concept behind Bionic Yarns and their idea of the perfect city. According to Williams, “The best city is one where the people treat their property and treat the land like they are living.”
