Pharrell is teaming up with publishing company, Young Penguin Readers, to donate 50,000 books to young readers, Billboard reports. Through a partnership with FirstBook, a non-profit literacy organization, as well the books will go to children in under-served low-income communities. “Every child on this planet deserves to experience the joy of reading,” Skateboard P said in a statement. The hashtag, #readHappy, will be used on Twitter for readers to share posts and pictures about why reading makes them “Happy.”
For every post on social media a donation will be made. Not only is the Virginia rep donating books, he is also creating them. He is producing a series of picture books based on his Oscar-nominated hit “Happy.” The first book, entitled Happy, will be released next week.
