Pharrell Williams has offered internships to more than 100 college bound high school seniors in Harlem. “So let me be clear, every member of the 2019 graduating class, is guaranteed an internship waiting for them, you, next summer.” He added, “It’s one thing to be ‘woke,’ another to be awake, leaned in and engaged.” As Pharrell succinctly put it, “We are in the midst of the new Harlem Renaissance with education at its core.”
Pharrell joins Jay-Z, Beyoncé and a number of other legendary artists to offer opportunities to high achieving students. The Carters announced a new scholarship fund back in 2018. More recently, T.I. offered a $25,000 scholarship for a single-mom in honor of his late sister. Now, Pharrell is the latest to pay it forward with an internship program.
