Epic Southern indie rock giants Kings Of Leon have given their permission for a new remix album based on their material. Kings Of Leon have entered a new echelon of fame with their latest album ‘Only By The Night’. A vast, stadium filling affair it may well be the band’s most accomplished effort yet, following on the heels of three acclaimed long players. However fans could be set to hear the material in a very unfamiliar light. In a new interview with Billboard drummer Nathan Followill revealed that the band’s material is set to be remixed by a host of familiar faces. The forthcoming remix album will see Kings Of Leon pulled apart and pieced back together again. In the new interview Followill reveals that the record came about after he heard that Justin Timberlake and Pharrell had remixed some Kings Of Leon songs unofficially.
“It’s neat to have these people who we would’ve jumped at the chance to work with ourselves…coming to us before we even get a chance to ask them,” Followill explained. “It’s amazing to hear your song played by these people who are so creative. Most of the time it takes me two or three listens to even wrap my head around, ‘Oh man, that’s our song’.” Among the names mooted for the new project are Lykke Li and Kenna. The drummer added that Kings Of Leon are set to immortalise their O2 Arena gigs back in July with a new concert film. “We figured what better place to make a live DVD than where the fans have been the craziest for the longest?” he reasoned. Fans hankering for new material may not have long to wait. Nathan Followill told the American entertainment magazine that Kings Of Leon want to be more adventurous. “There’s stuff that sounds like Radiohead. There’s stuff that sounds like Thin Lizzy. There’s stuff that sounds like The Band,” he said. “We’re pretty much to the point now where…we can be experimental and try stuff we would’ve been scared to death to try on the first couple of records.”

Now signed to Columbia Records, after a number of tumultuous years with previous label Jive, the brothers are prepping the Oct. 20 release of their third LP, “Till The Casket Drops,” by touring the country with rap newbies The Cool Kids. Before the headlining trek brings them to the National on Aug. 31, Style spoke with Pusha T. by phone while he relaxed during an off day in San Diego.
Style: Do you view performing Virginia shows any differently from shows in other markets?
Pusha T: I always look at Virginia as a homecoming. You know, we spend a lot of time touring and going overseas. … but at the end of the day, when we’re coming home it’s always a big deal.
S:Do you feel any special responsibility to rep Virginia as artists from here?
P:Yeah, I think so. I think being from Virginia and being one of the ambassadors as far as lyricists go within the hip-hop game. … we gotta hold it down. That’s where we’re from and that’s what we are about. Being from Virginia is part of the aesthetic that has made people gravitate towards the Clipse.
According to Ms Lago, Robin has been in the studio with Danjahandz to work on his new album. „ PoetED@Lukefieldin yea working with both Danja & Ms. Lago is amazing. learning so much.“ Over the years, Queen Latifah has rubbed shoulders with countless people in music and film industry. So it’s no surprise that on Sunday, on the set of the video for her new single, “Fast Car,” Missy Elliott (also featured on the record), Common, Robin Thicke and his wife, actress Paula Patton, shot their cameos for the video. “I just asked them,” Latifah said, “and I really appreciate all of them showing up, because they all have really busy schedules. They got to drive these Mustangs around this track a little, put the pedal to the metal, which is always fun.”
The video was shot at Wall Township Speedway in South Belmar, New Jersey. Latifah, Common and Thicke all got a chance to drive around the racetrack in their own individual Ford Mustangs before the rain came down. Latifah stars along side both Common and Paula Patton in the upcoming romantic comedy, “Just Wright.”Latifah stars as a physical therapist Lesile Wright who falls for a pro basketball player played by Mehcad Brooks. She said they’ve built a rapport, while on set. Robin Thicke said he and Latifah had been friends for 10 years, so he jumped at the opportunity when asked. However, he did seem most excited to drive around the racetrack. “I was getting my Ricky Bobby on!” he said. “If you’re not first you’re last.” Thanks To Lukehaze.

Here is the three years old tune off Queen Latifah’s new album “Persona” that was actually planed for her 2006 album but it didn’t fit the concept that day anyways it’s featuring Serano and not Pharrell and it’s called “If He Wanna” and not “If You Want To“. Thanks To bigmac2098.

After Memphis Bleek left Jay-Z’s label situation for the first time in nearly 15 years, many wondered what would become of the other Marcy Projects emcee. Today it was announced that Bleek’s return, while not through Roc Nation Records, will come courtesy of Jay-Z’s involvement as an executive producer. The Process is due November 24, on Mass Appeal Entertainment. The Universal-distributed label will release an album boasting production from Just Blaze, No I.D. and others, while featuring Pharrell, Rick Ross and Jay-Z.
“The Process has been exactly that a process.aking what I’ve learned from a teacher and creating my own school. It’s time for me to handle my own business as a man and Mass Appeal supports the vision. I’m ready to share The Process and Get Low Records with the world and along with Mass Appeal, I’m excited to take the next steps in my career independently,” said Bleek in a statement. Pharrell probably is also producing for Bleek but hiphopdx.com is saying he is only featured on the album, we’ll see.

M.I.A, Santigold and Goldfrapp are among trendy artists lined up for XTina. Christina Aguilera has confirmed some of music’s coolest artists will feature on her next album. Santigold (formerly Santogold), M.I.A, Lady Tron, Goldfrapp and singer Sia will all appear on the star’s next disc. The Neptunes and Major Lazer are also rumoured to be contributing beats to the album. Christina continued: “I really like to step outside of my own box. The result was just crazy magic. There truly is something for everyone to enjoy on the record. Lots of good stuff in store!”
Ex-member of UK Garage girl group Mis-Teeq, Alesha Dixon is workin on her 3rd Studio album which is due this year. The Strictly champ is working with Gary Barlow on new material. “It makes a change from climbing a mountain for Comic Relief. He is so talented – hopefully the songs will be better than the ones we sang round the campfire on Kilimanjaro.” Alesha has also recorded a new single, Black Cloud, due out in October. The song was written by Chad Hugo who also produced the track as half of The Neptunes.
Pharrell Williams nearly missed playing a headline slot at a Copenhagen festival after nattering with Playlist. In a strange twist of musical madness, our Natalie bumped into the NERD frontman at the airport in Geneva, Switzerland, left. So keen was the down-to-earth star, 36, to carry on the chinwag, he had to skip the duty-free shopping and make a mad dash through the airport before his gate closed. The rapper said: “I love playing in the UK but was disappointed about the sound problems we had at Glastonbury. “It’s dope that Playlist came down and checked us out.” Pharrell added that Alesha Dixon was among his top British acts and labelled his star fan Just Jack “cool”.
Nicki Minaj is a American rapper grewing up in Southside Jamaica and Queens, New York was discovered on MySpace by Dirty Money CEO Fendi who signed her to his Dirty Money label. A pretty dope tune, check it out.
Birdman and Jay Sean hit the club in the music video for ‘Written On Her‘, a new single from Birdman‘s upcoming release ‘Always Strapped‘. A music video in support of Birdman’s single “Written On Her” has just made its way out for public viewing pleasure. It captures Birdman and Cash Money‘s artist Jay Sean, who lends his vocal to the song, hitting a club. While Birdman invites several girls to join him on his table, Sean sets his eyes only on a woman. “Written On Her” has been confirmed as one of the new materials in Birdman’s upcoming fourth studio album “Always Strapped” which is yet to have any release date.
Beside collaborating with Jay Sean, Birdman is also expected to team up with Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy, Pharrell Williams, Akon and DJ Khaled in this effort. Birdman does not only have a solo album under his belt but also have a collaborative record with fellow rapper Rick Ross called “The H” in the works. Greater than that, he along with T-Pain and Ross are featured in Glasses Malone’s single “Sun Come Up“.

It’s Finally out after a year of delay, its pretty nice. Check it out, thanks to Skateboard.
After previously giving the Clipse the cold shoulder, Cam’Ron has finally come around. The Virginia duo originally reached out to the Dipset rapper about appearing on the remix to their debut hit “Grindin’,” but he turned them down. “We wanted Cam on the ‘Grindin’ (Remix)’ back in the day and he was like, ‘Get outta here with that,’” Malice reveals to Rap-Up.com. But the tables have turned. Seven years after releasing their first album, the Clipse was finally able to convince Cam to drop a verse. “I think what’s dope about it is we’re coming out of a hiatus, same with Cam’Ron. To come back into the arena and do so together, I think it’s pretty much a big deal.” Their collaboration, “Back By Popular Demand,” will be featured on the Clipse’s third album Till The Casket Drops, due October 20. “It’s really crazy. It’s insane. I think everybody got off on that track.” While Cam’Ron may have been a chase, it didn’t take much persuasion to get Pharrell to come through. “Pharrell did his thing. I gotta admit,” adds Malice. “As always, The Neptunes were in the studio and they were just showing off this time. A few things were a tug of war, but when they came with it, they just came with it every time.”
Pharrell, Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre pose with headphones from “Beats By Dr. Dre” made by Monster Cable. A new alliance between hip-hop impresario Dr. Dre, Interscope Chairman Jimmy Iovine, and computer maker Hewlett-Packard aims to save digital music. No, this is not an attempt to fix the record industry’s business woes. The goal is to lift the sound quality of the too-often tinny tunes squeaking out of our ear buds, and it’s an ambitious plan nonetheless. HP will release premium-priced laptops, headsets, and software featuring the “Beats By Dr. Dre” brand sometime this fall, music industry sources with knowledge of the offering told CNET News. In an interview last week, Iovine declined to discuss HP or any other company that may be involved. He confirmed, however, that he and Dr. Dre are part of a plan to reconstruct the entire “digital music ecosystem” from the sound file to the computer and culminating with high-end headsets.
The gear produced by Dr. Dre and Iovine doesn’t appear to come from some vanity project by would-be celebrity entrepreneurs. Dr. Dre and Iovine enlisted such artists as Pharrell, Will.i.am, and Gwen Stefani for coming up with the right sound and design of the Beats By Dr. Dre headphones, built by Monster Cable. Together they produced the “Tour” in-ear headphones that were rolled out last January and have since received critical success. “Monster Cable’s headphone collaboration with Dr. Dre, the Beats, surprised us with their musical prowess back in August,” wrote Slashgear last December. “While celebrity endorsements tend toward the cheesy, and Monster’s products toward the over-priced, we weren’t expecting much; in actual fact, they proved impressively capable.”
Who would’ve thought that The Neptunes gonna use a young Michael Jackson tune to remix it, it’s Pharrell’s Mum Favourite MJ Tune and it’s pretty much a dopeass remix off MJ‘s The Remix Suite, check it out. R.I.P. Michael.
Update: August 12th
Universal Motown Records has enlisted the hottest producers in the game to pay homage to Michael Jackson by remixing their favorite tracks from The Jackson 5’s timeless catalog of gems and jams. Akon, Swizz Beatz, Q-Tip, Ryan Leslie, and Rodney Jerkins are just a few of the superstar producers who are featured on „Michael Jackson – The Remix Suite“. Boasting more than 20 innovative renditions of popular hits such as “ABC” and “Dancing Machine,” along with obscure classics like “Maria” and “Skywriter,” Michael Jackson – The Remix Suite will be released in five digital bundles of five songs. The first bundle—featuring Polow Da Don, The Neptunes, Dallas Austin, Salaam Remi, and Stargate—will be available for digital purchase on August 25, followed by a new bundle every two weeks leading up to the physical release of the entire collection on October 27. “It’s no secret that Michael Jackson’s phenomenal talent inspired countless entertainers,” says Universal Motown President Sylvia Rhone, who spearheaded the making of Michael Jackson – The Remix Suite.
“But his music also inspired many of today’s finest producers. That’s why we thought it would be exciting to invite them to put their own unique spin on his work. From Michael’s amazing vocals to the great melodies, grooves, and arrangements―the material they had to work with is so incredibly rich. It’s inspiration feeding inspiration and the results are fantastic.” Michael Jackson – The Remix Suite is as diverse in sound as its dazzling array of notable producers, which includes Tricky Stewart, DJ Cassidy, Steve Aoki, Frankie Knuckles, and Benny Blanco, among many others. “We jumped at the opportunity to be involved with this project because Michael is a legend who influenced our entire career and redefined the world of music,” says Pharrell Williams from The Neptunes, whose seductive and synthy reworking of “Never Can Say Goodbye” is anchored by an irresistibly heavy bass line. Michael Jackson – The Remix Suite is not a somber tribute to an iconic legend gone too soon. It is a fun, fresh, and funky testament to the infinite mass appeal of the early works of Michael Jackson and The Jackson 5 that will inspire, uplift, and electrify listeners for generations to come.
