Epic Southern indie rock giants Kings Of Leon have given their permission for a new remix album based on their material. Kings Of Leon have entered a new echelon of fame with their latest album ‘Only By The Night’. A vast, stadium filling affair it may well be the band’s most accomplished effort yet, following on the heels of three acclaimed long players. However fans could be set to hear the material in a very unfamiliar light. In a new interview with Billboard drummer Nathan Followill revealed that the band’s material is set to be remixed by a host of familiar faces. The forthcoming remix album will see Kings Of Leon pulled apart and pieced back together again. In the new interview Followill reveals that the record came about after he heard that Justin Timberlake and Pharrell had remixed some Kings Of Leon songs unofficially.
“It’s neat to have these people who we would’ve jumped at the chance to work with ourselves…coming to us before we even get a chance to ask them,” Followill explained. “It’s amazing to hear your song played by these people who are so creative. Most of the time it takes me two or three listens to even wrap my head around, ‘Oh man, that’s our song’.” Among the names mooted for the new project are Lykke Li and Kenna. The drummer added that Kings Of Leon are set to immortalise their O2 Arena gigs back in July with a new concert film. “We figured what better place to make a live DVD than where the fans have been the craziest for the longest?” he reasoned. Fans hankering for new material may not have long to wait. Nathan Followill told the American entertainment magazine that Kings Of Leon want to be more adventurous. “There’s stuff that sounds like Radiohead. There’s stuff that sounds like Thin Lizzy. There’s stuff that sounds like The Band,” he said. “We’re pretty much to the point now where…we can be experimental and try stuff we would’ve been scared to death to try on the first couple of records.”

Now signed to Columbia Records, after a number of tumultuous years with previous label Jive, the brothers are prepping the Oct. 20 release of their third LP, “Till The Casket Drops,” by touring the country with rap newbies The Cool Kids. Before the headlining trek brings them to the National on Aug. 31, Style spoke with Pusha T. by phone while he relaxed during an off day in San Diego.
Style: Do you view performing Virginia shows any differently from shows in other markets? Pusha T: I always look at Virginia as a homecoming. You know, we spend a lot of time touring and going overseas. … but at the end of the day, when we’re coming home it’s always a big deal.
S:Do you feel any special responsibility to rep Virginia as artists from here? P:Yeah, I think so. I think being from Virginia and being one of the ambassadors as far as lyricists go within the hip-hop game. … we gotta hold it down. That’s where we’re from and that’s what we are about. Being from Virginia is part of the aesthetic that has made people gravitate towards the Clipse.
According to Ms Lago, Robin has been in the studio with Danjahandz to work on his new album. „ PoetED@Lukefieldin yea working with both Danja & Ms. Lago is amazing. learning so much.“ Over the years, Queen Latifah has rubbed shoulders with countless people in music and film industry. So it’s no surprise that on Sunday, on the set of the video for her new single, “Fast Car,” Missy Elliott (also featured on the record), Common, Robin Thicke and his wife, actress Paula Patton, shot their cameos for the video. “I just asked them,” Latifah said, “and I really appreciate all of them showing up, because they all have really busy schedules. They got to drive these Mustangs around this track a little, put the pedal to the metal, which is always fun.”
The video was shot at Wall Township Speedway in South Belmar, New Jersey. Latifah, Common and Thicke all got a chance to drive around the racetrack in their own individual Ford Mustangs before the rain came down. Latifah stars along side both Common and Paula Patton in the upcoming romantic comedy, “Just Wright.”Latifah stars as a physical therapist Lesile Wright who falls for a pro basketball player played by Mehcad Brooks. She said they’ve built a rapport, while on set. Robin Thicke said he and Latifah had been friends for 10 years, so he jumped at the opportunity when asked. However, he did seem most excited to drive around the racetrack. “I was getting my Ricky Bobby on!” he said. “If you’re not first you’re last.” Thanks To Lukehaze.
