Claiming that their music is now ‘very 3-D’, Pharrell Williams says NERD are working on a new album ‘Instant Gratification’ with new member Rhea. Rumor that NERD have a new member named Rhea has been confirmed by Pharrell Williams. “Musically, we’re just somewhere else [with her],” he told MTV News. “The music is now very 3-D. It’s something you have to hear.” “We’re definitely somewhere else,” he continued. “I want to leave that impact moment for when you purchase your download and you purchase your CD. The music is very three-dimensional. We’re just really excited. We feel like NERD has always been the punks of hip-hop and the outcasts of alternative music – just a little different. But this time, we’re taking no prisoners.”
According to publication, Rhea auditioned for NERD via Skype. Her rendition of “His Eye Is On The Sparrow” impressed the band. “It was just a really good time,” she recalled. “When I came in there and I met them and they heard me sing, I think they decided it was the right fit.” Report that NERD appointing a female member was brought to surface in August by Fam-Lay, the rapper signed to The Neptunes’ label, Star Trak Records. In the same month, the Hip-Hop group, which consist of Pharrell Williams, Chad Hugo and Shay Haley, brought Rhea on-stage during their performance at Lovebox in London. NERD are now prepping to release a new album “Instant Gratification” which is expected to be released in 2010. As for this year, they will be supporting Jay-Z for his upcoming “Blueprint 3” tour along with Wale and J. Cole.

Who is this girl Rhea allways dancing on stage with NERD at their Tour? Well first it seemed like a average artist who just been touring with NERD but nah. According to Fam-Lay, the 25 year old Guyana born Canadian native is NERD’s new member. „Her names Rhea.. She’s the new member of N.E.R.D.!! & she dope!!“Rhea is prepping her as yet untitled debut for a 2009 release on DJ Clue’s Independent Label Cluemanati, the lead single Choreographer feat. Jadakiss entered the Hip Hop/R&B Charts at No. 23. The track helmed by production The Justice Beats Of America (DJ Clue & Troy Oliver).
Rhea who attended the Berklee College of music in Boston, relocated to New York to pursue her music career. She quickly landed a job doing Commercials for Cover Girl, Diet Pepsi & McDonalds among others. Through the connections she made there, she began working with producers and writing songs with such as the Next Selection artists Uness and Mysto & Pizzi. I was kinda upset at first because change is hard. Now I’m just curious how this all came about. I guess its a part of the growth of N.E.R.D and possibly becoming more mainstream and more revenue, ie The Black Eyed Peas. That’s how I see it. Rhea is talented but I was wondering, how come they never put Natasha Ramos or Vanessa Marquez out there like that?
Is Fam in N.E.R.D now? They should officially add him too. I already consider him N.E.R.D because I doubt he’s ever coming out with an album the way the industry is going now. Teyana Taylor needs to join up too. N.E.R.D can be like a new world version of Wu-Tang Clan. Just half kidding! Teyana needs to be out on somebody’s stage.
Lol@ssspax : I think I lot of guys go to N.E.R.D shows to bask in Pharrell’s glow I doubt they’re even caring about Rhea. There are women standing right next to them that are just as beautiful and they don’t even flinch let alone let them get closer to the stage for a better view. Seen it with my own eyes.

i don’t think it could be the best thing to do. Like Thelonius said, black eyed peas made good HIP HOP music before Fergie join them and they had their own fans. Now, i don’t know which is their music style when i am listening to their music. My sister couldn’t stand their music but now she can’t help listening to them.
I don’t expect this from NERD. They have their own world, their own style of music and i love the way that they still doin’ their own music based on real instruments instead of doing the kind of digital music they do for their collabos.
That’s why i think that if a girl join this group, it could disturb the balance of this one, change the way they see the music, change the way they produce their own songs… and i don’t want to be surrounded by BEP fans or even Slimmy fans during a NERD show,

I personally would have prefered to see her being successful as a solo artists because i LOVE her music, but I think with NERD Rhea can be really successful. i very much doubt this is true, N*E*R*D just don’t seem the kind of group who would simply add another member for more fame and sales. P has always spoken about how he does not do what he does for the fame and that he does it because it’s what he enjoys and it’s what his fans want. he knows he has a smaller fan base that alot of artists out there but he is ok with that and so even if Rhea was to join the band it would be because that’s what the group feels is right

Congrats to Rhea. She’s gorgeous & very talented, but don’t quite know how I feel about this. Guess I’ll just need to wait for their album to drop & decide then. I just hope that they’re not doing it to go mainstream.. Random, but Chad seems like he’s been busy with a lot of things, so he’s like being pushed out the group? Not literally, but that’s what it seems like. The last 3 shows I went, Chad wasn’t there.

I saw them in Seattle Saturday lets just say at first N.E.R.D. was the icing on the Jay-Z tour cake! But I left to go get a beer after watching them for a while. Which is really sad cause I was there for the Glow in the Dark tour and when he toured with Common at the Showbox sodo not to mention all the times I saw them in VA beach totally upset! JAY-Z was off the HOOK!

I know the guys are smart. But I’ve seen the live show. Definitely not the same group that I loved. And I just can’t get into it with Rhea up there. She has a good voice, just not what I’m used to hearing from them. Sounds watered down. It was mentioned in the KUBE radio interview that they wanted to go with a more radio friendly sound this time around. I wish them well.
I fell in love with N*E*R*D because their music isn’t something you’ll hear on the radio 100 times a day. So it was always refreshing. Its not the fact that a female was added, for me its Rhea’s sound. And to say she auditioned singing “His Eye is On the Sparrow” you have to be kidding me. Like really, that song is for 12 year olds auditioning for Showtime at the Apollo. So yes I feel like I was slapped in the face by this BS.
After 8 years, it just may be time for me to move on and its not easy. I’ve been trying to force myself to like it since June/July and it just isn’t working. I kept hoping it was temporary and that they would look at the concert clips and say it isn’t working but doesn’t look like that’s going to happen. This is Rhea’s big break after years of being a solo artist, so I hate being on this side of the fence since this is her reward. But ugghh I can’t get into it and all the pop pr lying spin machine that’s coming with it. I’m not 12, so I see through wool, LOL!
