We hate to feed the rumor mill here at Paste, but it’s hard to ignore this potentially bad news bit of gossip. Reports have been circulating that Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo—better known as the production duo The Neptunes—are going their separate ways. Sketchy blog posts and sporadic news items have cited reports of friction between the two artists. And while there’s no official word, the two have produced more tracks on their own as of late. If The Neptunes’ split is true, it remains to be seen how this will affect the production team’s band, N¤E¤R¤D, which is currently on tour. So are these rumors trustworthy?
