Shay Haley reckons that his bandmates Chad Hugo and Pharrell Williams could come up with something interesting with psychedelic rockers Ben Goldwasser and Andrew VanWyngarden. “A collaboration with N*E*R*D and MGMT would be pretty sick,” Shay said. N*E*R*D – who are playing an exclusive show at London’s Troxy on November 27 for the Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project – are working on a track with Damon Albarn, after supporting Gorillaz on tour. “We’re working on a song with him. He is a genius, a cool guy,” Pharrell admitted. But he declined to reveal any further details, saying:
“I can’t do that. He’s like us – we like to keep everything veiled until it’s time.” N*E*R*D, who are celebrating 10 years of music-making with the release of their greatest hits compilation The Best Of N*E*R*D on January 10, promise more “incredible music” for the next decade. “Music is changing and it’s becoming even more exciting. The invigorating, ground-breaking stuff is on its way back, and I think rock ‘n’ roll is going to come back in a huge way,” said Pharrell. “Kanye’s [West] new album is dope, we’re happy that Lil’ Wayne is home. We’re excited to see what Chris Martin does next, the joint Jay-Z and Kanye record should be interesting, and Nicki Minaj is arriving.”
