Queens rapper Noreaga talks bringing Lil’ Wayne into his world to bring his Pharrell collabo to a ‘Finito’. “I believe in energy. I believe in God, but I also believe in energy. It wasn’t like I made [the song] and thought of Lil’ Wayne, I went through all my files and said “What’s gonna make N.O.R.E. and The Neptunes special again?” We gotta involve somebody to revamp this whole thing. Then I run into Wayne. I literally was walking out of The Hit Factory as he was walking in. Wayne was like “Yo, you need me on something?” I’m like “Yeah!” So my dumbass makes the CD, takes it down to his [studio] — and I forget to give him my number.
It was crazy because the very next day [my inner circle] was tellin’ me, “Yo that joint you got with Wayne is crazy!” I’m like “What?!” The beautiful thing about this track is that N.O.R.E. brung Wayne into his world. I coulda easily tried to step into Wayne’s world and I coulda struck out by tryna be something I’m not. I brung Wayne into my world and I think thats what fans respect about ‘Finito’. [Me and Pharrell] got like three of four other joints thats just in the stash, but ‘Finito’ was special from the beginning ’cause he was poppin’ sh*t on the track.
If you listen to Pharrell you don’t really get to hear him poppin’ sh*t. Na’mean? The last time he popped sh*t was on “Superthug“. It feels like “Superthug Part 2“. I got a beat for the remix. But it has to be organic. I think that’s where I made alotta mistakes in the past, by just rushin’ something, or puttin’ things out just because the opportunity was there. Right now I’m on that organic sh*t. I don’t wanna force nothin’ on the fans. Just natural music. Feel me?” Noreaga is currently working on his latest album, S.U.P.E.R.T.H.U.G.
