Pharrell Williams customises all of his clothes by drawing and spray painting on them. The N*E*R*D producer can’t stop adjusting and adding to everything he wears, even when he’s working in the studio, according to British singer Conor Maynard, who recently recorded at his studio in Miami. Speaking at the Silver Clef Awards – where he picked up the TAG Newcomer Award – Conor told BANG Showbiz: ‘When I was recording, he was always spray painting on his clothes and drawing on them, he’s a very creative person, he does some crazy things, he’s always drawing on his shoes – he creates all his own bespoke clothing for himself out of whatever he has on at any point.’
Pharrell is also famous for having so much of his body covered with tattoos, with having most of his arms covered, although in 2008 he unveiled plans to get most of them removed. He said: ‘It’s basically like getting a skin graft, but you’re not taking skin from your ass or your legs. These guys actually grow the skin for you. ‘First you have to give them a sample of your skin, which they then replicate. Once that’s been done, they sew it on – and it’s seamless.’ However, the following year it appeared he had changed his mind and underwent painful laser surgery in order to have some of the tattoos removed. He tweeted at the time: ‘Laser treatment bitches! Extra crispy.
