The legendary Phife Dawg of A Tribe Called Quest has passed away. As part of A Tribe Called Quest with Q-Tip, Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Jarobi, made his mark over the course of five celebrated albums, undeniable classics that will stand the test of time. In May of 1990, Phife was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and ended up having a kidney transplant which was partially documented in Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels Of A Tribe Called Quest. The film was directed by actor and super fan of the group, Michael Rapaport, and was released in 2011 to positive reviews. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family, friends and fans of the late, great Phife Dawg – forever celebrated, he was only 45 years old.
