Alyssa Bernal’s path to pop stardom has been a little unusual, but hardly unheard of. Like Justin Bieber, she got her start uploading covers of songs to YouTube, where’s she’s now one of the top 30 most-subscribed to musicians on the video-sharing site. Last week, Alyssa released the single “Soaking Up The Sun” from her new self-titled EP. We caught up with Alyssa and she was kind enough to answer our Celeb Slam Book questions. Read on to find out more about the 22-year-old singer/songwriter.
Tell us one thing the general public doesn’t know about you:
I was a competitive cheerleader for 11 years.
Describe your daily routine:
Wake up, brush teeth, shower etc, check my email, play with my dogs, try and get it a little cardio in, If I’m not too lazy at the moment. Then maybe play around on my guitar and get inspired to write a song. Run some errands. Have a random jam session and photo shoot just for fun. Then do some gigs if I have any that evening. Nothing too crazy yet!
If you had to choose another career, what would you be?
Probably something in fashion. Like, designing clothes. Or maybe even a small business; like a bookstore or coffee shop!
If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be?
Vegas! With friends 🙂
Who was your first kiss? Was it any good?
A family friend in high school and it was terrible. I had no clue what I was doing. Ha ha.
What super power would you like to have?
Teleportation! I always find myself wanting to visit someone who lives thousands of miles away, everyday.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
’90’s pop songs and these super hot corn chips called “Takis”.
What are your can’t-miss TV shows?
“Criminal Minds!” Dr. Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) is my eye candy. And “Glee!”
Is there another celebrity you’ve always wanted to meet and haven’t yet?
Vanessa Hudgens, LMFAO, and Gaga. In that order 🙂
Is there a celebrity that you have met and been starstruck by?
I almost had a heart attack when I met Chris Brown. So polite.
Who is your best friend and why?
Her name is Felicia Celeste Villarreal! We’ve known each other since eighth grade. She can literally be my only friend in the world and I would be okay with that. We’re the girls dancing in the corner of the party without a care while all the other girls are standing there looking pretty — ha ha. She’s the only one who gets my dry humor. Not to mention I trust her with my life.
Who is your celebrity crush?
Matthew Gray Gubler. Lawd!
What celebrity would you switch teams for?
Vanessa Hudgens.
What do your friends make fun of you for?
My big tush, blonde roots and terrible love life. hah!
What is your favorite song to sing in the car?
“Party Rock Anthem!” With a friend of course.
