Group member Dawn Richard let it slip on Thursday that the album should be out some time this summer and that they worked with Pharrell for the debut. “We’re saying sometime in June,” she told S2S exclusively. Diddy has been telling music lovers for months that Train is coming, but he hadn’t hammered down a tentative drop date as the group continued to push the album back. With this news fans at least have an idea when Last Train To Paris will be pulling into the station. While some may speculate that the album delay has been nothing more than a marketing ploy, Dawn said that’s not so.
She explained that the reason no release date had been announced before this was because they’re taking their time put together a spectacular album. In fact, Dirty Money Crew is so dedicated to that mission that they even skipped the Grammy’s to lay down more tracks in the studio. “We just want to make sure that when we put it out that we’re blowing people out of the water. It’s imperative that we tell the story right,” Dawn said. “As of right now we’re saying June, but we’re not putting any dates on it because we want it to be special. We don’t care about dates, we care about making a great product. But we’re super excited because we are at the tail end.”
All the extra hours they’ve been putting has garnered at least 100 songs that could go on the album. And with producers like Will.I.Am, Rodney Jerkins, Pharrell and Guy Gerber working their magic, Dirty Money has a lot of material to choose a track listing from. Dawn dished that at last count they had actually narrowed down the field of songs for Last Train To Paris down to about 30 tracks. Fans seemed to receive “Angels” and “Love Come Down” pretty well, so we asked Dawn if she could dish about the group’s next single. Unfortunately, all she could tell us is that Ditry Money Crew hasn’t picked one out just yet. “We have five to six possibilities. That’s how many #1 singles we have,”
Late night talk show host, Jay Leno, will once again warm his Tonight Show seat next month and he’s bringing out some big names to welcome himself and fans back. NBC, the network that airs the Tonight Show, announced on February 24th a musical guest line-up that will include glam pop/rocker Adam Lambert, R&B crooner Robin Thicke, punk rocker Avril Lavigne and rock band Lifehouse among other performers scheduled to appear.
According to organizers, Thicke joins Morgan Freeman, Jamie Foxx and Sarah Palin, who will also appear during the first two weeks of ‘Leno‘. News of Thicke’s performance and appearance follows weeks of discourse at NBC, which ended with Conan O’Brien losing his show to Jay Leno, who had tried a prime-time show, but failed.

R&B superstar Robin Thicke takes some time out to big up Jay-Z and Alicia Keys’ “Empire State of Mind.” Robin Thicke dropped one of the most underrated albums of 2009, but in the opening months of the new decade, Sex Therapy has been catching on. Thicke’s latest single “Rollacoasta” is one of the best R&B jams on the radio right now (mostly because it sounds like mid-period Prince). In fact, all of Sex Therapy pounds — especially “Meiplé,” Thicke’s collaboration with Jay-Z. Of course, Thicke isn’t just a Jigga collaborator — he’s also a big fan.
“The last album I downloaded was Jay-Z’s album, which is amazing,” Thicke told MTV News. “['Empire State Of Mind'] is an immediate classic for the rest of time — just like Frank Sinatra’s ‘New York, New York.’ It’s a new generation getting to feel the streets of New York the way he described it.” Thicke is about to hit the road as the opening act on Alicia Keys’ tour, and the singer thinks that secret weapon in “Empire State Of Mind” is none other than Keys’ chorus. “With Alicia’s booming voice, we all feel inspired. We feel like we could conquer and do anything when those two say it.”

Here is a nice Timbaland article by timesonline.com where Timbo The King is talking about his time at “Surrounded By Idiots”. Mosley was born in Norfolk, Virginia, in 1971, and it’s possible it was simply his destiny to make music: that’s certainly the way he sees it. “I didn’t have no plan to do this, it just happened,” he says, gesticulating at the huge hotel room and the expensive suitcases that litter the suite. “I just loved music as a kid. How it got to be the thing it became is a mystery — it bugs me out.” Initially intending to be a DJ, he formed a group called Surrounded By Idiots with Pharrell Williams before making beats for his friend Missy.
Virginia may not be a rap mecca like New York or California, but the state has produced a wealth of musical talent since the mid-1990s, including The Neptunes, Elliott, the rappers Clipse and Mosley’s own producer protégé, Danjahandz. “Pharrell be saying there’s something in the water, but I don’t know,” he grunts. “It’s a regular, anywhere place. Nothing spectacular.” He goes back often, he nods, to attend church with his mother: “I’m still close to my family; I’m very family-oriented.” Although Surrounded by Idiots folded before school was out, the up-and-comer started to make a name for himself in 1996, creating a new style of R&B for singers such as Ginuwine and Aaliyah.
DJ Khaled wants to work with Pharrell, check out part 4:50, they talk about collaborating. I REALLY HOPE THEY WILL NEVER COLLABORATE, CHAD IF YOU READ THIS, AND I KNOW YOU DO, PLEASE TELL PHARRELL TO GO RATHER BUY SOME FAT FREE TWIZZLERS. Thanks to Chip Chad.
There will be someone shakin’ it 4 daddy in Robin Thicke’s life in a few months, only it’s not going to be a curvaceous female rapper in a short, tight skirt. Instead it’ll be he and wife Paula Patton’s first son. Tyra Banks asked the Sex Therapy crooner on her talk show yesterday whether he thinks his namesake will follow in his sultry footsteps as a singer. Then she let her audience members ask Robin for advice about—what else—doin’ the nasty.
Junius, a group that struggles to even put their own sound into words, is not your ordinary band. The roots of their name go deep in philosophical thought from an anonymous political rebel who questioned the status quo. Their new album, ‘The Martyrdom Of A Catastrophist‘ chronicles the life of Immanuel Velikovsky, a Russian psychoanalyst scientist who had theories about the Earth’s past. They spent three years creating an album about a man who has a story to tell. Spinner.com caught up with frontman Joseph Martinez recently in anticipation of the group’s SXSW gig where they been asked about whats their musical guilty pleasure:
“I really dig Gwen Stefani and the fact that she has the greatest producer, Pharrell Williams. All the songs he touches are amazing. I think he is one of the greatest producers of our time, especially in this last decade. Maybe my guilty pleasure is really Pharrell Williams-produced tracks.”

It’s apparently the season to remake the classics. Mary J. Blige recently recorded a cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven” and we all know about the remake of “We Are the World.” Now, Jermaine Dupri is spearheading a new version of a classic song, and just like “We Are The World,” it’s another Quincy Jones tune. JD has called on Usher, Robin Thicke, Tyrese and Trey Songz to cover Jones’ 1989 hit “The Secret Garden (Sweet Seduction Suite).” The original version starred seductive vocalists James Ingram, Al B. Sure, El DeBarge and the incomparable Barry White. In 1989, “Secret Garden” was one of the highlights of Quincy Jones‘ Grammy-winning Back on the Block LP.
Each vocalist had a verse and an opportunity to sing to the ladies. Jermaine said his version will woo the females all over again. “I think Robin Thicke got something for the ladies,” Dupri said. “Usher, definitely. Trey, definitely. And Barry White. That was hard, because I wanted to put Anthony Hamilton on there, Maxwell on there. But it’s hard, because it’s only a four- or five-man [song]. That was the hardest part for me.” Jermaine said the “Secret Garden” remake will appear on a new Quincy Jones album; no release date has been announced.

Mike Shinoda has spearheaded a benefit for Haiti, allowing fans to download previously unreleased tracks from the likes of Alanis Morissette, The All-American Rejects, Dave Matthews Band, Enrique Iglesias, Hoobastank, Kenna, Linkin Park, Lupe Fiasco, Peter Gabriel and Slash. The compilation, “Download To Donate For Haiti,” is free and available for download at the website for Music for Relief, the nonprofit started by Los Angeles’ Linkin Park in 2005. Music for Relief reports that it has raised more than $3 million for disaster relief in its five years of existence.
Mike Shinoda Explained: “It was an idea as of Thursday - We ask that you donate, but you don’t have to — if all you can afford is to spread the word, embed the widget, share it on Facebook, Twitter, whatever, then that will be good enough, – We’re hoping to raise a lot of money for a lot of people who need it in Haiti. We started our organization, Music For Relief, back in 2005 after the Tsunami in South Asia,. Music for Relief’s goal is to provide relief, funds and awareness in the wake of natural disasters … this is the first time that the technology has been available to do something like this; just a few years ago, it wouldn’t be possible for artists to turn around songs so quickly, in a matter of days. By the way, I should say that Music for Relief [donates] 100 percent of the funds, We’re just a conduit; everybody’s working for free and everybody’s working hard.” According to the relief site, Chad Hugo Co-Produced Kenna’s ‘Never Let Me Down’ tune together with Mike Shinoda, a leftover off Kenna’s 2007 Make Sure They See My Face. Thanks To Plaxxx.
