Kenna is a Grammy-nominated Ethiopian born singer/songwriter who has a lot to say about music. Initially, his EP was completely erased due to a technical glitch, but Kenna’s back and he released the first in a series of three EPs entitled “Land 2 Air Chronicles” on Tuesday, April 26th. Kenna doesn’t just care about music. He cares about the world, especially his homeland of Africa. Kenna organized his celebrity friends to climb Mount Kilimanjaro on a project called “Summit On The Summit,” where they helped provide fresh water for Africans. He’s worked with Lupe Fiasco, Chad of N*E*R*D, Santigold and Pharrell. He’s also written songs and produced work for pop star Ashlee Simpson and JoJo as well as toured with Nelly Furtado. He’s a super musician whose music is amazing!
A ravishing Rihanna graced the red carpet in a sweeping black gown at the 5th Annual DKMS Gala at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City on Thursday (April 28). The red-haired siren was presented with an award in recognition of her commitment to the fight against leukemia. “Anyone can be affected by leukemia,” said RiRi in a statement. “It is the number one disease children in the U.S. die of and we can change that. I encourage people to become bone marrow donors with DKMS. If we have more donors, we can save more lives.”
Some of her superstar peers also pitched in for the good cause. Pharrell emceed the black-tie event, Solange lent her DJ skills, and Mary J. Blige provided the evening’s entertainment. Other guests included Keri Hilson, Eva Mendes, Solange Knowles, Katharina Harf, David Bowie, and wife Iman. All proceeds raised will go directly to registering life-saving bone marrow donors.

Oh god, I know, y’all will hate me for this but according to sugarscape.com Rebecca Black, star of the YouTube sensation ‘Friday‘, has been in the studio working on her new album. Well, now we’ve got a clip of her talking about it on the red carpet for the Prom premiere that she attended and it is suggested that she might be working with Pharrell on it. Random! During the interview when asked if she understood Friday’s success she replied, “I really don’t know, it’s a song about Friday, I don’t get why people love it so much or hate it so much but it’s good! Really it’s awesome if they love it and if they hate it I really don’t care!” Then Rebecca went on to talk about her new album.
It’ll all very hush hush but we do know that there are going to be five songs, three up tempo, one medium and one ballad and it is NOT about any days of the week. She said, “It’s a really large variety, we go from having upbeat songs to slow songs but I really can’t say much about it.” The interviewer then threw in the rumour that Pharrell might be working on it, yes that is Pharrell who’s worked with Snoop Dogg and Kanye West!! However, she doesn’t confirm or deny the rumour so we’re not sure whether she was thrown because she was confused who Pharrell even was or because he is involved lol!
Kenna has finally released his long anticipated first EP of the Land 2 Air Chronicles installment titled ‘Chaos & The Darkness’ which is out right now on iTunes. Kenna will also donate a $1 for each download to provide clean drinking water, so get that EP right now ! If you’ve heard the tunes, you’ll realise that ‘What U Want’ already leaked but as a Lupe Fiasco tune and unmixed which was probably planned for Lasers. The Kenna version is pretty dope and has pretty much changed a lot. So it’s safe to say that ‘What U Want’ is produced by Chad Hugo & Kenna and written by Lupe Fiasco.

FADER TV Interviewed UK sensation Tinie Tempah where he revealed that he worked with The Neptunes for 2 days in Miami. Tinie Tempah became the best selling British debut act of 2010. Being a vigorous young lad such as Tinie Tempah makes challenges of the sort quite simple. In 2010 he released three hit singles in the UK, the head banger Pass Out, Frisky, and Written In The Stars. Produced by popular Swedish producer Ishi, Written In The Stars has sold over one million in the UK alone since it’s release in Sept 19 2010.
Tinie honestly shares with listeners his future plans, past struggles, and present happiness making for one motivational song. In return for being so honest, the track was able to connect with tons of listerners and is probably the reason it reached #1 on the Billboard charts. In addition, Tempah scored big with both singles Frisky & Pass Out selling upwards of 750,000 copies, thanks to Thelonius 7.

“The obvious, easy answer is, Hey dummy, they never left. Look at their Wiki Production List, 2010 was indisputably a very full year. Pharrell co-produced the Despicable Me score, worked with Chad on a large part of the Game album, made a N*E*R*D record. Still, the question remains, where have they been? A close look at that long list shows they’ve been making beats for big names steadily, only to have those tracks never reach release. The shelving of songs is itself no great harbinger of dead talent, it’s simply the business of cutting fat. But enough glut trimmed and you start to wonder when you’re getting to the meat. The list of potential collaborations that did not make the final cut is disheartening. What went wrong? The answer to that question is possibly watermarked on the songs that did get released—a jumble of okay tracks.
The semi-tepid “Haterade” by Gucci Mane, a forgotten Pusha T. track, a maybe decent collaboration with the kinda forgotten Lil Scrappy. Why, in present day, is a Neptunes/Drake collaboration not just a necessity but an irrefutable jam, a huge hit? Maybe their hearts aren’t in it, maybe the depths of soft synths have been wholly mined. Whatever it is, the last year or two have not been solid ones for the once dominant and ubiquitous duo.
