Pharrell Designed Artwork For Playboy

Proving Hugh Hefner really is the coolest guy in the galaxy, Playboy have revealed that Pharrell Williams, MGMT, Chromeo and Q-Tip are all contributing to a special edition of the world renowned skin mag which hits newsstands in the USA Today, Friday February 13th. The music stars all appear as part of ‘Rock The Rabbit’, which first popped up in Playboy back in 2007. Since then names like Daft Punk, Iggy Pop, The Flaming Lips, The Killers and Hot Chip have taken part, and this year the honour has been handed to Pharrell – who is about to tour Australia with N*E*R*D for the Future Music FestivalChromeo and Q-Tip – also about to tour with Good Vibrations – and MGMT.

In case you’re wondering… the project doesn’t have anything to do with boobs or booty, it’s about art; each musician contributing their own interpretation of the iconic Playboy logo. “The inspiration for the design came from our love for Playboy and Yew Yorker styled cartoons,” said Andrew VanWyngarden of MGMT. “We’re very into cartoons, the rest of our merchandise line is in fact a series of original cartoon characters designed by our friend Dan from our descriptions of the characters.” The logos will be printed on T-Shirts, with the proceeds from sales given to charity. Also invited to take part in 2009 are The Kooks, Motley Crue and Perry Farrell. The issue focuses on music. T-Shirts bearing the artwork are available to buy at Playboystore.com
