There are a few different new albums that impacted the Billboard 200 this week. There’s a new Gorillaz album and another from Jimmy Hendrix, but it’s Ludacris’ Battle of the Sexes that reigns at no. 1. Luda’s new album gave the rapper his fourth no. 1 album on the 200 charts, selling 137,000 copies. It’s the rapper’s follow-up to 2008’s Theater of the Mind, which peaked at no. 5. His previous no. 1 albums include 2006’s Release Therapy, 2004’s The Red Light District, and 2003’s Chicken N Beer. According to Billboard.com, Battle of The Sexes ties Luda for the third-most no. 1s among rap acts. His four ties him with the Beastie Boys, but he trails behind the likes of Tupac, DMX, Eminem, and Nas who have five no. 1s. But, the all-time leader is Jay-Z, with 11. Ludacris poked fun at Tiger Woods’ sex scandal on the intro to his new track “Sexting” from his forthcoming Battle Of The Sexes album (due March 9), intimidating the embattled golf star’s frantic voice mail to one of his alleged mistresses. But the Atlanta rapper said there are no hard feelings behind the jab. “If I’m making fun of Tiger Woods, I’m also making fun of myself,” Luda told MTV News from Madison Square Garden before he took the stage Wednesday (February 24). On The Neptunes-produced song, “Sexting,” Luda raps about his own tale of sex addiction. “My girl went through my cell phone,” he spits, explaining how he got caught. Throughout the track, the Luda-as-Tiger voice mail plays. Luda said the track is only a reflection of reality.
“This is what happens,” he explained of the inspiration behind the song. “So I’m just bringing to light what’s really going on in the world.” So, does Luda have a take on Tiger’s message to his mistress? “It’s very entertaining,” he laughed. “And I do feel as though he may have handled it wrong.” Ludacris, however, said he’d offer Tiger some advice — especially if the golf legend feels slighted by song. “I would say, ‘Let’s go play some golf and talk about it,’ “ he offered. “I take that back — I’d say, ‘Let’s go to the sex-rehab place together and let’s discuss it. Let me know where your sex-rehab place is and I’ll let you know where mine is. We got some things to get off our chest.”

Now available March 9th, the record apparently features a conceptual battle between Ludacris and some of the most prominent female rappers in the game. “It’s been pushed up a week due to the anticipation.” Luda said in an interview with Meet Tha Dealer TV.
“Feeling good. ‘Battle of the Sexes‘ just got picked up on the Black Eyed Peas tour, so we’ll be promoting that starting Thursday all the way until the end of April.
Females from the past, present and future. Everybody from Eve, Trina, Lil’ Kim, Nicki Minaj. I got records talking about women, to women, women talking back to me and at the same time, just great music. I always try to out-do myself and reinvent.” In addition to the prominent female guests, there’s also confirmed appearances from Trey Songz, Rick Ross, Flo Rida and Pitbull. The official track list remains elusive, but Luda checked-in enough during the process to lead us to believe that The Neptunes, Swizz Beatz, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League and Bangladesh will all make production appearances.

According to Luda’s Twitter, The Neptunes are back with Ludacris in the studio to work on his 7th album titled ‘Battle Of The Sexes’ which is due March 16th. The album was originally supposed to be a collaboration album with former DTP artist Shawnna, but was reformatted upon her signing with Nappy Boy. The album will now feature songs from Ludacris featuring various female hip hop and r&b artists which is considered to be a return to Ludacris’s pre-Release Therapy light-oriented raps without seriousness.
