Conor Maynard has confessed that Pharrell Williams told Ludacris to work with the Brighton star when they were together in the studio recently. The up and coming singer told Capitalfm.com that he was hopeful of some “crazy” collaborations on his debut album which could feature a song by the ‘Stand Up’ rapper. Talking of his time with Pharrell and the guests who would stop by, he said: “It was crazy because while I was in the studio with Pharrell he’d make a point of playing them every single track that I’d recorded with him and see what they thought and be like ‘what do you think of this one’ and they’d be like ‘yeh it’s really cool’.
“Then he went to Ludacris ‘man you’ve got to get on a track with Conor‘ and he was like ‘if you can give me a track that you know I can kill then lets do it’.” The ‘Can’t Say No’ singer said he was conscious of only performing collaborations with artists if he felt they would gel. “I think for me it’s working with people that I think we know work best. Obviously he can’t just say ‘work with this person’ and I’m like ‘I don’t think that would really work’. “He definitely has a lot of connections and it would be cool to see some crazy collaborations on the album,” he added. Meanwhile, the singer has recently announced a new UK tour and told Capital that he would be pulling out some “surprises” at his shows.
By Steven J. Horowitz. Luda links with some old friends for his eighth studio release. Ludacris has confirmed that his eight album Ludaversal is slated for release in May. Speaking with Billboard.com’s The Juice, Luda said that he’s already collaborated with Usher for the project, but that he’s hoping to surprise listeners with a handful of guests. “Usher is one person that I’ve already worked with,” he says, “and in terms of other artists, you can say that there’s going to be a lot of surprises on here.” Ludacris, who recently released his 1.21 Gigawatts: Back For The First Time mixtape, previously collaborated with Usher on “Yeah!” and Lil’ Jon’s “Lovers & Friends.”
He further says that the album is “about 40 percent done” and that The Neptunes have produced for the project. “I’ve pretty much collected about 80 percent of the beats that I need and I’ve started writing ideas on them. First I have to love the beat, absolutely love it,” he said, noting that the first single will drop in March. “It’s been a minute since I’ve been away from music, and there is just so much to talk about… So [the album] is mostly about my personal life, my travels, my experiences, rumors, gossip — you know, everything coming together in one.”
Education reform is coming to a town near you– via bus. The Get Schooled Foundation announced Friday it is launching a nationwide bus tour headlined by entertainers and personalities like Ludacris and Pharrell Williams intended to get students, teachers and parents excited about education. The Get Schooled National Challenge and Tour will host youth summits and bus events in cities across the U.S. including New York, Chicago and Los Angeles, designed to engage young people in talks about education. A recent College Board report ranked the U.S. twelfth worldwide in the proportion of adults with postsecondary credentials – a dramatic decline since ranking first just a generation ago.
Viacom Inc., AT&T and Univision Communications, Inc. have teamed up with school districts and nonprofit organizations around the country in an effort to push the U.S. back up the ranks. Through this initiative, teachers and mentors are able to do just that: In a show of understanding, Ludacris said: “Education is the ultimate challenge. I know from experience that sometimes it is tough to get inspired, to take control, and to have the discipline to see your education through. I’m excited to join other artists and The Get Schooled Foundation to help capture the attention of students and reinforce the vital message that education is important and a necessary tool for life.”
