Cris Cab Reveales He Is Not Signed To Star Trak

Cris Cab revealed to the examiner.com that he isn’t signed to Star Trak, In fact, Cab isn’t signed at all. But he says he is in talks with a few labels and will be signed within the next two-three weeks. In October 2010, he was an aspiring singer/songwriter, who took to Youtube to promote his work. “My name is Cris Cab and according to my mom, I’ve been singing since I was born. I’m seventeen now and music is my passion. My favorite artists and bands include Bob Marley, Jack Johnson, Sublime and Cold Play. But I also like hip hop and rap and they definitely influence much of the music I write today. It’s all good, you know what I mean? Miami is my home town and I can’t think of a better place to live than this sunny, warm paradise with all its great beaches and interesting people…..heaven on Earth.” ~Cris Cab, Youtube profile.

Two months later, he was formally introduced to the music industry by Grammy-award-winning artist Pharrell Williams. Last week, he dropped his Pharrell Williams-backed debut EP Forward.” Next week, he’ll perform songs from that EP here in Baltimore. His name is Cris Cab, an 18-year-old singing sensation from Miami, Florida. Cab says Pharrell is a mentor and we worked together musically,” but he is not signed to WilliamsStar Trak Entertainment. In fact, Cab isn’t signed at all. But he says he is in talks with a few labels and will be signed within the next two-three weeks. Though Cab’s sound is noticeably different, one can’t help but compare him to another teenaged Youtube success story—none other than teen pop star Justin Bieber. Cab admits to sharing some of the same fan base as Bieber but says he casts a wider net.

“I think I have a very wide and broad demographic from ages 12, 13 to 65,” Cab said. He attributes that to his mature sound that includes hip hop, reggae and soulful melodies. So, is Cab a pop, reggae, or R&B rising star? “I’m not sure,” he said. “It’s a fusion of so many types of genres. I don’t think it’s a term yet to describe my sound. I think it’s a beautiful thing. I have a lot of freedom.” Cab will perform Thursday, June 23, 9 p.m. at Bourbon Street Baltimore, located at 316 Guilford Avenue. His performance will include original songs from his EP Forward,” and popular covers such as his rendition of Kanye West’s All Of The Lights.” For more information about Cris Cab, follow him @criscabmusic or go to his Facebook Fanpage.
