By Rob Markman. Odd Future’s Sagan reveals that TyCo keeps his Best New Artist Moonman on a makeshift altar devoted to the N*E*R*D star. In the month leading up to Tyler, the Creator’s 2011 VMA win, Odd Future’s de facto leader was pretty vocal about his desire to score a Moonman and now that he finally has it he housed it on his make-shift shrine for Pharrell Williams. “It’s in my room on this f—ing like … bookshelf. It’s a bookshelf with f—ing T-shirts folded up,” Tyler told MTV News when he and his OFWGKTA cohorts sat with us in late July. OF’s photographer buddy Sagan Lockhart helped to further paint the picture and, in turn, embarrassed Tyler a bit.

“Next to all the posters of Pharrell that cover his whole entire room — it’s pretty sus,” he said using OF’s slang word for questionable behavior. Tyler’s self-directed “Yonkers” video was up against Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep,” Beastie Boys’ “Make Some Noise,” Bruno Mars’ “Grenade” and Katy Perry’s “Firework” in last year’s Video of the Tear category. He would lose that award to Perry, but managed to beat out Kreayshawn, Foster The People, Big Sean and Wiz Khalifa for Best New Artist . “I just wanted one, I’m fine,” Tyler said at the time, using Jasper Dolphin as his spokesman after the awards show.

These days, Tyler is more concerned with his idol Pharrell and the shirts he keeps next to his VMA … right next to his Skateboard P shrine. “I have my N*E*R*D merch in plastic bags that I can’t wear yet because Pharrell wont f—ing perform any f—ing more,” he said with frustration. “And I hope he sees this sh–.” This year, OF’s Frank Ocean will have a presence at the show. He’s up for three VMA nominations in the Best New Artist, Best Male Video and Best Direction categories for his “Swim Good” clip. The 2012 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from Staples Center in Los Angeles on Thursday, September 6, at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
