Mercury/Island Def Jam singer-songwriter Cris Cab will preview his forthcoming debut album with a new mixtape, “Red Road,” which will reach fans on Apr. 16. New single “Colors,” featuring Mike Posner, has received an effervescent, colorful (see what we did there?) music video, which is launching exclusively on Billboard.com: “I’m excited to release new music to the world,” says Cab. “‘Colors‘ and the other songs on ‘Red Road‘ showcase the universal energy, fun and joy I love bringing to my listeners. With my single releasing and album coming in the fall, I want ‘Red Road‘ to be a glimpse of the great music to come.” Directed by Vulpine Films.
Cab’s debut album is indeed slated for a fall release, with an official lead single due out in June. Until then, however, “Colors” showcases the singer receiving an inspirational boost from Posner, who scored a Top 10 hit with “Cooler Than Me” and co-produced Justin Bieber’s “Boyfriend.” “Mike and I were fortunate enough to link up through some mutual friends, and we both have admiration for each other’s music,” says Cab. Posner also co-wrote and co-produced “Colors,” while other tracks on the nine-song “Red Road” feature Wyclef Jean and the Green. The release of the “Red Road” tape will immediately be followed by a 25-city tour of North America, set to kick off on Apr. 17 in Washington, D.C. Collie Buddz will join Cab on the trek, which wraps on May 18.
Colors Video comes out April 4th, Red Road Mixtape due April 16th.
Red Road Mixtape comin soon. Stay tuned.
Mike Posner has posted a new video of The Neptunes Session from January, where Pharrell is playing Piano while Mike is singing acapella which is probably called ‘Slow Down’ according to the chorus, what can we say about this video, well, one is forsure, Pharrell stepped up his game up by playing piano, that was pretty impressive, thanks to BlueSky2308.
In a recent interview, Michigan-based singer and producer Mike Posner revealed that he’s been spending his time in the studio with artists such as Justin Bieber, Pharrell Williams, J. Cole, and Big Sean. The ‘Cooler Than Me’ singer says that he helped Beebs workout his upcoming single ‘Boyfriend’ and indicated that the track will have more of a hip hop sound than the Canadian star’s previous work.
According to Mike Posner, Bieber’s fans will get a chance to hear something different when the singer drops his new single as the teen sensation is looking to prove his rapping chops with a few bars of rhymes. “I have Bieber’s new single, I wrote and produced that with him. And wait ’til you hear the beat, you’ll flip. You’ll want to play this song, it’s super hip hop. He raps like a little eight bars, and then starts singing crazy right after it, and it sounds amazing. That was our whole goal was making something that was hater proof,” Posner told Bootleg Kev in an interview on Hot 97.5.
Posner is also gearing up for the release of his sophomore offering ‘Sky High’ which is due to drop soon and revealed that the album could include a number of tracks supported by Pharrell Williams. “The new music is super incredible. Like the people I’ve been playing it for are just like flipping out. Pharrell’s on the album. I did nine joints with Pharrell,” said Posner, thanks to nerd0016.
R&B singer Mike Posner, whose soulful sound is a bi-product of his love for Hip-Hop, released a video featuring an acoustic cover of the new single from Rick Ross’ mixtape, Rich Forever. The track, “Stay Schemin,” originally features rappers French Montana and Drake and has made a big splash on both the Internet and radio since its release. However, French and Drake do not appear on this version of the song as you will see below, but Posner friend and guitar player, Blackbear, does.
Regarding how the “Stay Schemin” interpretation came to fruition, Posner exclusively told AllHipHop.com: “I was in Miami the last two weeks working with Pharrell, and after I would finish recording, I would kick it with Rozay at his crib. Rick [Ross], French [Montana], and I went to the club one night in Miami, and I saw the reaction people had to “Stay Schemin”, even though it had only been out for a day. That made me fall in love with the song, and I knew Blackbear and I could put a fresh spin on it.” “Shout outs to Pharrell for letting me borrow his keyboard in the making of,” he continued, while laughing.
