Pharrell To Join Stevie Wonder In Hyde Park On July 10th

Pharrell will be the main support for Stevie Wonder, 65, who is due to play his 1976 album Songs In The Key Of Life in its entirety. Pharrell said he “never dreamed” he would have the chance to share the same bill as Stevie Wonder, as he was added to the line-up for Hyde Park this summer. He also paid tribute to London’s musical heritage, ahead of Barclaycard presents British Summer Time on Sunday July 10. “The great news for me is that it’s Stevie Wonder — I’m going to frame my ticket, that’s for sure. I never dreamed in a million years this would happen. I remember as a little boy when my aunt purchased that album.

I would play it over and over again. Stevie Wonder was a fixture in my life as a child. His music is probably the closest thing to auditory transcendence.” “So much amazing music has come out of London. It’s always nice to perform in the same places that legendary artists have performed in, in their backyards.” Corinne Bailey Rae, also now on the line-up, said: “It’s a dream come true to be asked to join Stevie Wonder.”

Snoop Dogg – Bush (Six Neptunes Tracks) (2015), California Roll feat. Pharrell & Stevie Wonder (15’)

Js V4 NG8
So the Snoop Dogg Project ‘Bush’ is finally out, and features almost on every tune Pharrell and Charlie Wilson. And the much hyped tune of the album, the Stevie Wonder collaboration is finally out for us listeners to see what the whole buzz is all about and since the album leaked on the net, the i am OTHER team revealed that ‘California Roll’ will be the next single.

California Roll’ pretty much stands out of the whole album and is also a recycled beat from a previous Neptunes session. One of the most talked tune on the forum is ‘R U A Freak’ which should be also a single if you’re asking me, because it sounds pretty much like ‘Let’s Get Blown Part 2’, but my favourite tune on the album is ‘Run Away’ featuring Gwen Stefani,

And a big thanks to matty for giving us the Official Credits to the album, which has surprisingly Chad Hugo credited on 6 Tracks and is safe to say it’s produced by The Neptunes. If you’re wondering why they didn’t called it as produced by The Neptunes, it’s probably because of the promotion use of Pharrell’s name for this project. Check out all credits below Including Snoop Dogg’s next single ‘California Roll’ and make sure to cop the album on iTunes.

Johnny Marr: ‘Pharrell Is Our Stevie Wonder’

Image Hosted by UploadHouse.com
Johnny Marr was formerly guitarist in The Smiths, before leaving in 1987. He’s since joined several bands, but went fully solo in 2012 to release The Messenger. He headlines Deer Shed Festival which takes place in Yorkshire, July 25-27 (deershedfestival.com) – his only date in the north this summer. Johnny Marr sat down with lep.co.uk where he talked about working with Pharrell on Spiderman 2 and calling him ‘Our Stevie Wonder‘.

“Yeah, it was a lot of fun. It’s very different too. We performed the soundtrack, and there were 12 of us on stage; me, Hans Zimmer, Pharrell Williams, Alicia Keys and a load more. It was quite something. I like moving around like that, I don’t like knowing who I’m going to be working with from one year to the next.

Collaboration is a really big deal for me, and for years and years I felt like I had to earn the right to collaborate, but now I’m solo, everyone wants to collaborate. For a while I just wanted to concentrate on my own band, but I get offered the most unusual things that are sometimes too interesting to turn down. Spider-Man was one of those.

Pharrell, well, he’s our generation’s Stevie Wonder. We talked about the opportunity of working together again, but we’re both serial workaholics. If we can make our paths cross again though, then we’ll do it. We’re cut from the same cloth, which you might not think because we have such different backgrounds, but we both love disco and we have Nile Rodgers in common.”
