Game Still Working On R.E.D., Pharrell “Brought The Peace.”

Game was recently on with Jenny Boom Boom and in the interview he first talked about his new “R.E.D.” album and how Pharrell “brought the peace.” Being “removed from the drama” and “coming in peace,” Game talked about how he feels Dre removed himself from the drama, during his beef with 50 Cent. Game then talked about the G-Unit group (including him and Young Buck) breaking up was a loss for everyone adding that if they would have stayed together, they could have easily sold over a 100 million records and Game is still working on R.E.D. album, this time he’s with Drake and Cool & Dre in the studio according to his twitter. “In the studio wit the lil homie @drakkardnoir & @coolanddre n all I can say is R.E.D. album…….. Track #2”

*rapbasement.com

Presently due on August 24th, Compton super-star Game is putting the finishing touches on R.E.D. In a recent conversation with HipHopDX, the Aftermath Records star spoke about this album’s Los Angeles influence, particularly coming after 2008′s L.A.X. long-player. “The entire record, man,” declared Game, despite enlisting Virginia icon Pharrell Williams to co-executive produce the album alongside Compton Rap pioneer, Dr. Dre. “When you get this album, for the first three or four songs, you’re gonna feel like you’re somewhere, lost in 1994, man, in Los Angeles. After [that], it starts to brighten up. Then it goes back and gets hard, and then it lightens up again, and mellows out. That’s where Pharrell comes in. It was dope to have Dre and Pharrell on the same album, ’cause it could be a smooth roller-coaster ride. One long, nice ride on a new album.”

In November of last year, Game mentioned an R.E.D. song titled “Ricky.” The rapper would not confirm details of the song’s inspiration, but considered it a highlight within the album. Based on the comment section at DX, six months later, Game was asked if he could reveal whether the song was inspired by “FreewayRicky Ross or perhaps the character from John Singleton’s 1991 film, Boyz N’ The Hood. Game maintained the suspense, “Everybody can hear it. You can hear what it’s about [on the release date for R.E.D.] That’s when it’ll go down. It keeps everybody on ice. You’ll appreciate it more when you don’t know what the fuck Game is about to hit you with you.” Game did add that “Ricky” is presently still slated to appear on R.E.D., due August 24th, Thanks to ChipChad.

Game - Ain't No Doubt About It

Game enlisted singer Justin Timberlake and Pharrell for his new video, “Ain’t No Doubt About It,” which was shot in Long Beach last month. Check out the on-set flicks. Game also sat down with DJ Envy to talk about his album being pushed back again getting back in the studio with Dr. Dre and he talk about how he didn’t like Pharrell for some reason back in the day. “Pharrell man, Pharrell pulled me to the side and he was like, ‘There’s only one thing that can’t happen,’ he said, ‘you gotta stop those shots at Hov. Like, that’s my man and I talk to him and he really don’t understand your gripe with him, he don’t have no problems with you, and I think he respects what you do and I know for a fact that you respect what he does so, you know, nip that.’ And I was like, aight, that’s fair. All’s fair, that’s it.”

Game - Ain't No Doubt About It 2
Today, iTunes is expected to begin selling Game’s single “Ain’t No Doubt About It” , but fans of the Compton emcee will have to wait another seven days to purchase his fourth major label album, R.E.D. Announced this past weekend, the album has moved from June 29 to July 6. The rapper’s album was originally supposed to be released in the crowded month of June, which will see releases from Drake, Young Jeezy, Sean “Diddy” Combs and Eminem. The R.E.D. Album was originally due in stores on June 15th, but that date was changed to June 29th. The next release date given for the rapper’s fourth studio album was listed as July 6th, but that date has been pushed back as well.

Game - Ain't No Doubt About It 3
While an exact release date has yet-to-be confirmed, the album should land in stores this Summer and according to sources close to Game, he canceled a series of listening sessions slated to take place this week, so that he could focus on recording new material for the R.E.D. Album. A spokesman for the Game announced that the anticipated release will go on to include some more recording sessions. The rapper had planned on unveiling the work to media this week, making this a last minute decision. At press time, “late summer” has become the new soft deadline.

And another pushback for the ‘R.E.D.’ album. The album is now scheduled for a July 6th release. Other releases that week include Kelis’ Flesh Tone and Big Boi’s Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty. The Justin Timberlake-assisted single “Ain’t No Doubt About It” is scheduled to hit iTunes Today.

Complex got a chance to check a rough version of The Game’s upcoming release, The Red Album, that’s slated to drop July 29th. Although he had a variety of producers on The Red Room mixtape that just dropped, as we feared, the album itself is dominated by The Neptunes/Pharrell, who’s also executive producing the project. We’d have been all for it if it was Skateboard P bringing that Lord Willin’ murda music—But here it’s more of the underwhelming “Unless You’re The Clipse, Give Me Half Your Budget And I’ll Give You A Throwaway Beat” P of the last few years. At least after a few years of being estranged, Game has reunited with Dr. Dre. It’s also worth noting that the version we heard is missing two tracks: one rumored to feature Lupe Fiasco, and the other supposedly with assists from Jay Electronica and Nas. Get an idea of what The Red Album will sound like with Complex’s track-by-track breakdown.

The Complex Review

01 – Infared (Cool & Dre)
The Compton rapper’s forays into name-dropping have recently been hit or miss, but over Cool & Dre’s 70s funk-jazz-influenced instrumental, the album’s intro is a major hit. Game drops attention-grabbing lines (“Will I ever go at Nas? Hell nah! / Will I ever go at Jay-Z? I don’t know”) and doesn’t waste a second spewing his fully automatic braggadocio. It’s an instant head-nodding banger for a kickoff.

02 – Ricky (DJ Khalil)
As the title implies, it’s a reference to Morris Chestnut’s character in John Singleton’s debut film Boyz N The Hood. A saxophone intro trails up to the congo drums in the backdrop, and the track leads off as a cautionary tale about ‘hood violence—but quickly veers off into Game sucking himself off about how he remains victorious in front of gun claps. Gunshot sound effects, paired with the chanted shout of “Ricky!” make this one memorable…for its repetitiveness.

03 – Good, Bad, Ugly (Hitboy)
Grimy keys and dark drums play the backdrop for a storytelling joint. The saga begins with the former drug dealer getting ambushed by several hostile guests with heaters, then segues to a scene where two detectives question the injured rapper. The Game skillfully flips the tone of his voice, and weaves an entertaining verse when he refuses to cooperate, instead spinning out a story that’s different from what actually went down. Straight gangsta shit.

04 – Heavy Artillery feat. Beanie Sigel & Rick Ross (The Street Runners)
The three self-claimed gangsters flex gun talk, murder, and their own craziness. Game even compares himself to Marshall Mathers (“Eminem ain’t Dr. Dre’s only sick nigga”).

05 – Diamonds feat. Robin Thicke (Phonix)
The version we heard featured an up-and-coming talent named K-Young, though we were told that the infectious hook would be re-sung by Robin Thicke (for the record, we didn’t mind the version with K-Young on the reference).

06 – It Must Be Me feat. Pharrell (The Neptunes)
Certified 2002 club banger!!! We had no idea P had a Delorean.

07 – Ain’t No Doubt About It feat. Pharrell & Justin Timberlake (The Neptunes)
He went in and killed it,’ Game says of JT’s part on the Pharrell-produced ‘Ain’t No Doubt About It.’ The Game didn’t know that Justin Timberlake was such an admirer of his music. But when JT revealed as much at a chance meeting in the studio, the singer wound up appearing on “Ain’t No Doubt About It,” the first single from the Compton MC’s R.E.D. Album. “We was just in the studio, me and Pharrell, working,” Game said of the collaboration. “We already had the hook written, and Pharrell performed it himself.
But Justin Timberlake walked in, and he was like, ‘What’s this? The song’s dope.’ I was like, ‘It’s that new song, Game featuring Justin Timberlake.’ He started laughing. And I was like, ‘I’m serious.’ He was like, ‘That’ll be dope. I’m a fan.’ I was like, ‘Justin Timberlake listens to the Game?’ He was like, ‘The Doctor’s Advocate was crazy.’ He didn’t even say The Documentary. He said, ‘The Doctor’s Advocate was crazy. I liked “Ol’ English.” ‘ He started vibing, then he went in and killed it. He was gone. It was like he was never there. He’s fast too. He knew exactly what to do. And his vocal arrangement was crazy. He got in and got out.” Game said the only way he does collaborations for his LP is if he and his guest are actually in the studio together. He’s not too much into e-mailing verses. “Nothing on my album happens not in the same room,” he explained. “If you’re on my album, that means we got it in. I do things the old way of hip-hop. I don’t believe in flying things over the Net: send it to you, you get it back to me. I’d rather just not have that person a part of my project. No love lost. That’s just not how I get down.” The R.E.D. Album comes out June 15.

Justified x In My Mind x Game sounding a little uncomfortable with the terrycloth-soft vibe of the track. Nothing much else to say. *shrug*

08 – Mother’s Womb feat. Nelly Furtado (The Neptunes)

The title’s kind of gross, right? Doesn’t sound so hot, either. Game waxes poetic about all the gangsta shit he’s been up to since he’s left his mother’s womb. What better way to do that than have Nelly Furtado ride shotgun? FOH. Skateboard P brings those Neptunes key patterns that sound like a throwback to his early chart-toppers, which is both a good and bad thing. The mix we heard was rough, but Furtado’s vocals sounded good.

09 – She’ll Look Good To Me (The Neptunes)
This one is all about bakin’ pies with a college chick. But not for her culinary class. As long as they’re of age, we always co-sign corrupting co-eds.

10 – When My Nigga Come Home feat. Snoop Dogg (The Neptunes)
Game heads to the strip club with a close friend fresh out the joint. Pharrell provides the soundtrack for the celebration with a mix of luscious synth waves and deep, hard-hitting drums. Snoop name-drops plenty of fellow Crips, but in that nice and smooth way that doesn’t offend middle America to the point that they’ll revoke sponsorships.

11 – Dead People (Dr. Dre)
Dre laces Game with a beat that sounds like it was left off 50 Cent’s The Massacre (in the same vein of “I’m Supposed To Die Tonight”), and Jayceon takes the opportunity to steal 50′s style, even sounding like him on the hook (a stashed joint he wrote, maybe?). Granted, he writes from an interesting perspective—at one point he goes into the POV of a bullet like Nas’ “I Gave You Power”—but it stills come off as an odd fantasy about murder.

12 – It Must Be Tough feat. Pharrell (The Neptunes)
Even though this was clearly unmixed and still has some reference vocals on it, it’s still one of the clear highlights of the album. Typical baller shit we’ve heard before, but Pharrell stunts on another level and absolutely dominates on the ad-libs and the hooks. There’s synths galore and heavy 808s that build back and forth (from low volume to high), and Game delivers a solid third verse.

13 – Roll My Shit feat. Snoop Dogg (The Neptunes)
Some real G-shit, straight up and down. Game and Snoop are clearly in their element on this one. Pharrell brings his best Dr. Dre impression by using light, wavy synths reminiscent of The Chronic.

14 – Lost Ones feat. K-Young (Cool & Dre)

Bonus cut that focuses on really dark themes of death and the molestation of his sister by his father. Fooled you, right? You thought it was some diss to Jigga, right?

Game – It Must Be Me feat. Pharrell (10′)

When I first time heard that tune 5 days ago, I couldn’t belive The Neptunes produced such a wackass tune for Game Street Anthem and I knew every Neptunes fan would go like WHAT THE HECK IS THIS MAN and I was right, when the tune leaked, every Neptunes fan was like WHAT THE HECK IS THIS MAN. So 3 days later and a few more listenings, I started to like it because I was tryin to listen to the tune not as a Neptunes fan but as a Hip Hop/Rap fan and considering its produced by The Neptunes I gotta say they did it again, the tune is fucking dope and fits very well to the concept Game is tryin to have on the album , ‘Cali shyt’ and I can’t wait til you guys hear Game’s Official single Ain’t No Doubt About It featuring Justin Timberlake’. Game also recently confirmed another track from the album called Hit Fix featuring no other than RZA (probably on a Dr. Dre beat), really looking forward to that collaboration, don’t forget to cop that Instrumental.

The release date (June 15th) was revealed a few days ago but here goes a little more information on what to expect. First Pharrell speaks on executive producing the album. “Game is good kid…and I’m excited for the world to hear the many facets of his character…what’s even crazier is that as a fan, I cannot believe I am actually producing songs on the same album as Dr. Dre. Humbling, man” The first sounds we’ll hear is a “street anthem” produced by Pharrell entitled It Must Be. Followed by a Justin Timberlake assisted joint entitled Ain’t No Doubt About It.

It’s almost Game time. After a few setbacks, Game’s album finally has a new release date. The Compton MC’s fourth LP The R.E.D. Album is scheduled to drop June 15, Rap-Up.com has learned. A video for the Cool & Dre-produced “Shake” was shot earlier this year at several locations, including Dr. Dre’s mansion and Travis Barker’s studio. In an interview with Rap-Up.com in December, Game shared that he has been recording with Dr. Dre, Timbaland, and Pharrell, who produced a track featuring Justin Timberlake. “I never thought in my life that I would ever work with Justin,” said Game, “and then for it to turn out and be as catastrophic as it was was amazing.” Game will face competition from Drake, whose debut album Thank Me Later is also set for release on the same date.

Game said he got just about everybody he wanted for his upcoming The R.E.D. Album — he has some of the finest tracks featuring guests from all over the hip-hop hemisphere. “I feel great about this album,” he said recently after going over tracks at Dr. Dre’s house. “It’s back full-force Aftermath and I’m conjoined with Star Trak.” (Pharrell Williams is one of the LP’s executive producers.) “I got this colorful movement over here where it’s beautiful music on this side [with Star Trak] — then when I need to go dark or super grown and sexy, I got Dre over here. The combination is crazy — mixed in with a Cool & Dre track and RZA track and all the sh– I been doing. The only person I’m upset I didn’t work with on this album is DJ Premier. I feel his sh– would have been perfect for this all-star producer cast that I have. One Premier track would have did me just fine. I would have murdered that sh–. But we ain’t get it in, ’cause he was doing a whole bunch of sh– for Christina Aguilera.

I’m just Game. So I gotta just wait for the next album.” The Compton MC said he lets the fans know from the start of the album that he’s not playing. “They got the intro to the album, which is titled ‘Infrared,’ ” Game said of Cool & Dre. “It’s one of them joints that Shaheem is gonna love. All the real hip-hop fans, to hear me rap, how I’m rapping on my intro, it’s gonna f— people up. Before you get to #2, you gonna already know I’m serious. I’m spitting. I go in. I done played this for RZA, Dre, Pharrell — all the people who heard this is like, ‘N—a, that’s crazy!’ I haven’t spit like I’m spitting on the intro since ’300 Bars.’ I touched every topic. Everything involving me, I touched.”

We’ll get a prelude to Game’s work with Cool & Dre on a song called “Shake,” as it’s one of the highlights on his upcoming Gangsta Grillz mixtape with DJ Drama, All Red Everything. Game tells a mayhem-filled story over the beat that incorporates the looped word “shake” throughout. ” ‘Shake’ is bad, man,” Game said. ” ‘Shake‘ is crazy. Cool & Dre brought it in and I went through the ‘shakes.’ I told the story, cutting myself off right before the ‘shake’ came in [on the track]. I didn’t write none of that down. I went in and said the whole sh– straight through. “You know what it is about them?” he asked about Cool & Dre. “They are more like my brothers. I can go in with the any moment and make a song. The streets is gonna f— with it.”

According to 2dopeboyz, The Neptunes got 3 tracks including a Lupe Fiasco feature on Game’s new album. This is hard to believe that only 3 tracks made the final tracklist out of 9 Neptunes tracks that they did in the studio and since the article is also mentioning the rumoured first single ‘Energy’ feat. Justin Timberlake, I doubt this is a real tracklist off Game’s R.E.D. album because Game just confirmed via his twitter that the first single will be a Dr. Dre tune.

AshantiJust a few years ago, Game was throwing straight lava at Ja Rule, Irv Gotti, Ashanti and the rest of Murder Inc. during the G-Unit wars with “the world’s most talented record label.” Since leaving the Unit, Game has become friends with Ja and Irv and even recently collaborated with Ashanti on a track for his upcoming The R.E.D. Album. Dr. Dre, who produced the track, suggested the pairing. “Hey, man, it’s ‘No beef 2010.’ That’s the trending topic on this interview, man,” Game laughed. “Dre called me and he was like, ‘You got any current-day problems with Ashanti?’ I was like, ‘Nah. I ain’t got no problems with Ashanti.’ She can sing like mutha—-a and you put her on a hook, it’s automatically radio.

So he was like, ‘I’mma have her come down.’ “ Within an hour, Game, Dre and Ashanti where in the studio working on music. “Dre was going through beats and I picked one. I was like, ‘Let’s try her on this hook.’ Me and Ashanti wrote the hook, I went in on the verses and that was it,” he explained. “The song me and Ashanti did, it don’t even have a name for it yet. It’s crazy. We just did that a week ago and I ain’t even name it.” seemed excited about the record as well, posting a photo from the session on her Twitter page. “Awwwwwww sh– it’s a problem!!!!!” she wrote. “Me DRE & GAME in the lab ohhhhhhh booooooy this is a SMMMMIZAAASHHH!!!!!”Ashanti. Game‘s R.E.D. LP, which also features production by Pharrell and a collaboration with Justin Timberlake, has a tentative release date of March 23. “I got so many amazing records, I don’t know if I should go hard to the streets or go radio,” he said about the first single.

GameOn the eve of his fourth studio album, an enlightened Game is presenting a more laid-back vibe, one that starkly counters the perception people have of him. Game has altered his outlook on life and it’s going to be reflected in his music. Part of the change of heart has to do with his tight friendship with Virginia Beach, VA.-based producer Pharrell. On the surface, it would seem that the two would go together about as well as chocolate cheesecake and malt liquor. But Game says the two soon discarded their preconceived notions of the other and developed a powerful brotherly bond that sparked high-quality creativity in the studio.

“Me and Pharrell … we established in six months’ time a sort of like a brotherhood. … I’m pretty sure [if] you talk to him, he’d say the same thing — it’s a bond that’s unbreakable,” he says. “And it’s not really [about the] music. It’s outside of music. Pharrell [gets into the studio] and we get in a zone and everything becomes ABC. It’s just real easy to [get] together in the studio. The songs just come out so remarkable and so crazy that everyone from women to men — you can be a thug or you can have a 9 to 5 — everybody appreciates the music, so I know that what we’re doing is catastrophic.”“I think that the last person that told me something that I really appreciated was Pharrell, and I didn’t know that was possible.

My boss is Jimmy Iovine, and Dre and my manager all tried to talk to me. Everybody always tried to steer ‘Game’ in the right direction or tell me to fall back from doing this. But I do me,” he says. “But it wasn’t until me and Pharrell had conversations … [that] I really understood his perspective of who I was and my career and my music — and he told me from a fan’s standpoint and not from being Pharrell Williams. It meant a lot to me. That’s probably the only person that I’ve taken advice from. Other than that, it’s me behind those decisions.” But he and Williams weren’t the only ones behind R.E.D., Cool and Dre, DJ Khalil and Dr. Dre all lend their production efforts, while Beanie Sigel, Rick Ross, Justin Timberlake and Robin Thicke come in for some collaborations.

Update: January 11th

I knew this would happened since Pharrell is the executive producer on it, we gotta wait another 2 months for the project.

“BAD NEWS: This just in.. The R.E.D. Album just got pushed back again to MARCH 23RD !!!”

Update: January 7th

GameOnce upon a time, gangster rapper Game had preconceived notions about eccentric rapper/producer Pharrell Williams – and vice versa. But the two have since put aside their differences; Williams is the executive producer of Game’s fourth studio album, “R.E.D..” “It was the most hood album I had until Pharrell came in and took over,” the Compton, Calif.-raised rapper said of the collaboration, which Interscope Records will release February 16. “Don’t get me wrong — this album is still hood,” Game continued. “I would describe it as the beauty of the sky meets the gangster of the streets. It’s just got a bit more color to it.”

Billboard: What does the album title mean?

Game: It was a title Pharrell and I came up with. It was like where I am at in my career. My last album felt like it might’ve been my last album, but it turned out not to be. So, this album is the rededication — to myself and to what I care about, like my friends, my family, my city, my hood, my genre and rap.

Billboard: How did you link up with Williams for this album?

Game: We worked together one day, and that one day turned to 30 days, and those 30 days turned to 60, and then those 60 developed into a friendship. We both prejudged each other, but once we met, we realized although we come from different places and different situations, we were kind of the same in different aspects of life. Now, our relationship is bigger than music. We have life conversations about bettering ourselves, and we’ve become good friends. We realized that aside from being musicians, we are brothers in this thing we call hip-hop.

Billboard: You recently got the words “Star Trak,” the name of Williams’ label, tattooed on your arm. Are you signed to him now?

Game: No. I’m Black Wall Street all day, but considering all he’s done for me — he saved my career — I’m riding for Star Trak too. I hold dear anything that helps elevate me and my life and my career and helps me take care of my family. I’ll be in debt to him forever for what he’s done for me. I appreciate him and I would never go to such extremes as to get a tattoo if it didn’t deserve it.

Billboard: You’re still wrapping up this album. Are there any surprises you’ve got up your sleeve?

Game: I’m trying to get (Interscope co-founder and chairman) Jimmy Iovine to throw me in the studio with Lady Gaga. She’s a rebel, and I go against the grain every day, so, if it happens, it’ll be monumental for the state of music.

“the R.E.D. album will b the BEST rap album of 2010 !! ask @snoopdogg @jtimberlake @ludajuice @robinthicke @iamdiddy @ryanleslie”

I think all those people are involved on the album.

Some songs on the album include “It Must Be Me” which features Game bragging about the luxuries of his life over an “N.W.A. mixed with an eclectic beat”; “Pussy Fight,” featuring Lil Wayne protege Nicki Minaj (“When you hear her on it, you’ll understand why she was perfect for it”); and “Lost,” which “describes the relationship between my father and I and my sister in depth like I’ve never done before.”

Update: December 22nd

Despite being one of the most “beefing” rappers in the music industry, Game says his upcoming new “R.E.D.” album (his fourth solo project) is “beef” free. Updating his fans on the album, Game talked about what effects having no current rap beefs has had on his new album by describing his relationship with his executive producer, Pharrell Williams. “The R.E.D. Album has presented me the opportunity to make the type of music I’ve always wanted to make and I’m free,” he explained in an interview. “I have no beefs and there’s nothing holding me back. I’m just having fun in the studio and I’m just recording man. I’m having the time of my life. Pharrell is my best hip-hop friend to date. Working with him has been nothing short of a catastrophic portion and every day that I can get in with that cat is different.”

Update: December 18th

The Compton heavyweight sat down with DJ Booth to discuss his feelings on going into the studio with such top-tier producers as Dre, Primo and Pharrell, where he places in his own “Top Five Rappers Alive” list, and why he actually doesn’t want to see weed legalized.

‘Like I told you, I’m a little bit more wise, I think I’m at the top of my game as far as my lyrics go, and I can write free, as a hip-hop artist and the type of hip-hop artist I wanna be. So, working with Primo has been the biggest treat of the day, outside of Pharrell – man, me and Pharrell have connected and created this bond, and sort of became brothers in hip-hop, if I can say that. But, man, I’ve just been havin’ fun. I’ve been workin’ and people have been like, “Yo, Game, you’re smilin’!” and I’m like, “I’m just workin’!” But I’ve been havin’ fun. When you have a job, no matter what that job is, you’re not smilin’ about it every day, so when you can go to work with a smile on your face and get things done that you’re proud of, it’s a beautiful thing.’

DJ Booth: Absolutely. You mentioned Pharrell executive producing the project. Game, how will his musical stylings cater to what you’re looking to do with this album?

Game: Because he has no musical styling! It’s, f*cking, the sky’s the limit for Pharrell! Dude, you think you know everything till you get in the studio and you listen, and you see with your own eyes what this man is capable of. Pharrell is a modern-day genius, and when I say a modern day [musical] genius I mean, I would put him amongst the likes of Quincy Jonnes, Dr. Dre, Pharrell, Kanye – if there could be a totem pole, that’s how it would go, for me. But bein’ in with that guy, man, he’s takin’ my music to another plateau. I appreciate him. He’s opened the floodgates for me to just write recklessly to all of these beats that he’s making, and he makes these beats right in my face. Me and Pharrell did nine songs in two days, and that was the last time that we went in the studio. And not only nine songs that were thrown together where I’m on ‘em and Pharrell did the beat – no, nine complete songs that can for sure be somebody’s single, man! So, it’s gonna be hard when we’re gonna have to dumb this album down to 12 to 15 songs.

DJ Booth: What led to you guys getting together? Because before this – correct me if I’m wrong – you hadn’t collaborated on one of your albums.

Game: Right. I think, for a while, me and Pharrell have been tryin’ to get together, and I always thought he didn’t want to work with me for some reason, so I always had this little hate in my heart for him, but I ended up talkin’ to him when I was in Miami for a while, and we talked on the phone, and I didn’t have a problem with him, really, and he didn’t have a problem with me at all. It was just timing and label restraints. And a lot of people strayed away from working with me because of my drama, but every time someone gets close to me, talks to me, or works with me, they change their opinion immediately, when they figure out that I’m intellectual as well as street-smart. I’m not a dummy, man – I’m well-spoken, I’m a cool person, and you’ve just gotta sit down. If you don’t judge me, then we’ll be fine. But I can’t say that, because I give what you should judge, which is one mean face, the same mean face I’ve been makin’ for the last seven years. It kinda throws people off, man!

Album, due in February. The rapper, born Jayceon Taylor, described working with the other JT. “The vibe changed and it went to where I could see Grammy Awards,” he said. “I never thought in my life that I would ever work with Justin, and then for it to turn out and be as catastrophic as it was was amazing.” Thanks to Borsboom.
