Fontainebleau rang in the new year with a live performance by Pharrell Williams, a huge countdown and a DJ set by Afrojack. The crowd stretched around the pool and the stage to see and hear some of the biggest names in music as the celebrated 2013 and prepared for the brand new year ahead.
By Rebecca Davison. They’re one of the coolest couples in music so it seems only fitting that musician Pharrell Williams would take his wife, Helen Lasichanh, somewhere extra special for their date on Tuesday night. The couple attended the Tracey Emin and Museum Of Contemporary Art Dinner hosted by Phillips and Vanity Fair at Cecconi’s at Soho Beach House in Miami Beach in Florida. And in keeping with the theme of the night, they had been pretty creative with their outfits.
Singer/songwriter Pharrell, 40 looked ultra-trendy in a Bathing Ape green camouflage jacket which he wore over a simple grey T-shirt and an extravagent Chanel beaded necklace. He wore a brown trilby hat and jeans. His long-time love, Helen, who he married in October, looked particularly kooky in a Little Bo Peep-esque, vintage satin dress and an olive straw hat with trainers. Tracy was celebrating the VIP launch of the Art Basel: Tracey Emin: Angel Without You show at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOMA) in North Miami.
Making the most of his Monday evening, Pharrell Williams showed up at the Colette Aft Drive-Through at Alchemist Installation in Miami, Florida in December 2. The “Get Lucky” singer looked to be having a blast during the Art Basel Miami festivities, sporting a brown fedora, grey hoodie and jeans. In a recent interview, Pharrell teased fans that he has been working on a brand new solo project with a whole new direction.

It was definitely a Sunday-funday at the Fontainebleau Hotel on this lovely, Africa-hot Labor Day Weekend. What made it different from every average day, was perhaps the Pharrell and Robin Thicke concert going down, on the North part of the campus? Oh, yes, I swear. So, were you unable to find tickets? Well that is because the concert was private, and only available to hotel guests and certain VIP’s including moi and moi’s entourage (we had our designated section in front of the stage, to the left).
The list included Craig Robbins, Brooke Soffer, Jeff Soffer and his new wife, supermodel Elle Macpherson, media guru Brian Feit, Rebecca Brock, Jeff Feldman, LIV mastermind David Grutman (who Pharrell made a shout-out to in the middle of his performance), Haute Living Publisher Sarah Mirmelli, Menchy Cotes, Cassandra Martino, Kamil Parchomienko, Jilian Sanz and Lauren Gnazzo. No amount of sweat could stop the lavish crowd from dancing. At first, Pharrell kept the crowd dancing to hip-hop jams, from the N*E*R*D days to more modern collaborations with Snoop Dogg–Lion. He then sang Daft Punk’s ‘Get Lucky.’
The crowd went nuts, it was priceless. Then came Robin Thicke, who performed like a champ. It was not his first time at the FB. He had a show alongside Mariah Carey at the FB opening party nearly six years ago, which to date, is one of the best, exclusive events I have ever been to in Miami. Today, Thicke sang with a major band and three glamorous back up singers, and belted out ‘Lost Without You’ and covered Al Green’s ‘Lets Stay Together’. Then for the finale, they performed their Top-Hit ‘Blurred Lines,’ and really, everyone went wild. The energy was a ten…. I guess it was all about the ten. I drank approximately ten bottles of Fiji water, and lost ten pounds of water weight.
Post Fontainebleau, my clique walked on to the boardwalk and went next door to SoHO Beach House, where we sipped on some fresh Coconut Cartel juice with the proprietor, Mike Zighelboim. The perfect way to end a shvitzy Sunday, #hyrdation, and what is a SoHO House adventure without running into some fierce Miamians like Jilian Jacobson, John, Susan and Theresa Turchin, Kristina Brumer alongside Mike and Cris Weinberg.
After the magnificent party for the Moncler 60th Anniversary at 1111 Lincoln Road, Miami was the venue of the second Moncler event, staged in the Maison boutique inside the prestigious Bal Harbour Shops mall. Pharrell Williams was guest of honour, presenting and signing copies of his new book “Places and Spaces I’ve Been” for his numerous fans.
